Perhaps, but supposedly we have a 2nd balloon headed our way, what if 5-6 balloons were over the USA all equipped with a nuclear device that could trigger an EMP event.
What’s to that 70,000 ft is the maximum altitude and go up to over 100,000 feet.
Another possibility. It is loaded with an EMP device.
Actually the possibilities are endless as to the horror the Chinese could be up to. You can bet that Biden knew about these before they happened.
Apparently these balloons have the ability to maneuver.

Flights arrive from China on a regular basis. Why would such a balloon be needed?

A nuclear weapon is not particularly light. Besides, the US has already flown close to the object with high resolution cameras and other senor systems. Nobody became alarmed. Give our guys credit. They don’t need help from over-the-hill bloggers.
A small nuclear weapon could be lifted by the carrying capacity of that balloon but would do little damage at that altitude except as a dirty weapon, in which case results would be unpredictable. Now if the thing descends and maneuvers in a controlled manner that’s a different story. But I think it is harmless, just a test for the big guy.

Back during WWII Japan sent balloons with bombs over the Pacific to the US.
Imagine doing something like that with a balloon and something much worse than CoVID-19...
