Consumers could be in a 'world of hurt' if Biden doesn't act soon, former Walmart CEO warns

On Sunday, former Walmart CEO Bill Simon joined "Fox & Friends Weekend" to warn Americans of the detrimental impact corporate layoffs could have on the U.S.'s feeble economy.

"It's crazy right now. We're stuck in this loop of, wage inflation, product inflation, and cost inflation. And it's just that cycle keeps going. And I think, unfortunately, an inevitable byproduct of some of the Fed's moves and as the necessary medicine we have to take to kind of cool things down and get the inflation back under control on some of these layoffs that are coming," Simon explained to co-host Will Cain.

8.7% raise for federal workers. A lot of people are not going to keep their jobs let alone get a raise this year.

I just checked with Brave on the Android (I noticed Brave was updated this morning) and got no warning. I made sure to scroll all through it and let the pictures load, etc. It is probably one of the dead links that is triggering some security package on your devices.

Certainly $15 isn’t out the picture when having to deal with karens and urbans. For decades, ‘workers’ didn’t have much power. It seems, that tide has shifted. Corporate America sided with .gov to say, you need the vaccine. Workers said FU, and left. Now, there are worker shortages and wage increases to lure them. Hundreds of thousands of people will never work for the man again, they will work under the table and never be loyal to any company that wanted to force them to get a shot.

Maybe that CEO needs to go visit their own stores and see the way they are run. The last time we were there we had to ring up and bag our own groceries! But the prices weren’t any lower. A lot of the employees were collecting orders for Store pickup. Those that actually drove there and shopped were left to do the work a clerk should be doing.

Walmart can’t hire illegals but Chinese owned food processing plants can hire them.

I remember more now. Home Depot, Lowe's, and Ace Hardware remained open; presumably because of essential plumbing parts, etc. Some of the mall stores were open and others were closed. I believe that some clothing stores stayed open (that was a little odd). Dentists were closed, I think more because of fear of covid than anything else . I guess people with dental pain went to the hospital and hoped for the best. Purely leisure or recreational businesses like gyms were closed, but that didn't affect me.

“So who prepared for this? Who has a stock of food and water? Who paid theirs debts and have zero loans? Who has a generator? Weapons? A stash of money? Etc etc.

Not many, I bet.”

______

I suspect it is more than you think. Many people took the opportunity of increased wages, low prices, and a stable economy during Trump’s four years to pay down debt. Also, the record gun sales over the past decade or so shows that a lot of people have stocked up on guns and ammo. Those that already had a few guns have purchased more, and there are more and more first-time gun owners. Furthermore, ammo still sells at a pretty brisk pace with some types still in short supply.

In addition, those companies that sell long-lasting food supplies such as Patriot Food Supply, etc, seem to have been doing a pretty brisk business ever since Biden was elected. Prices of rural property have risen as more and more people see the future and decide to get out of urban areas, especially since they can work from home no matter where they are located.

Families are moving out of liberal blue states and joining like-minded communities in conservative red states. That indicates to me that people are more aware of what seems to be coming down the pike than the media realizes or will admit.

Not much debt; very little

I cannot reach those still in a normalcy bias mode
