Dems propose 8.7% pay raise for federal workers to make up for COVID, Trump
Fox News ^ | January 29, 2023 | Peter Kasperowicz

House Democrats proposed legislation this week that would give more than 2 million federal workers an 8.7% pay raise in 2024, a raise they say is needed because they suffered through both the COVID pandemic and the Trump administration.

"For years now, federal employees have risked their health and safety working on the frontlines of this pandemic," said Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., who sponsored the bill. "They were subjected to the Trump Administration’s cruel personal attacks, unsafe work environments, pay freezes, government shutdowns, sequestration cuts, furloughs, and mindless across-the-board hiring freezes."

"Still, our federal workforce serves with dedication and distinction every day," he said. "Federal employees are our government’s single greatest asset, and they deserve better."

Connolly’s Federal Adjustment of Income Rates Act, or the FAIR Act, would give federal workers an average 8.7% pay raise next year, following the 4.6% raise they received this year. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, introduced the same bill in the Senate, and said the raise is warranted.

"Whether inspecting our food, conducting medical research, or caring for our veterans, federal workers play an important role in our everyday lives and deserve pay which reflects that," said Senator Schatz. "After years of pay freezes, our bill gives these dedicated public servants a much-deserved raise."

All should be moved to Social Security just like the plain people.

All federal employees hired after 1984 are on Social Security under FERS. I doubt there are any fed employees still working CSRS left.

Most to 70% of the Federale “workers” are still at home doing pretend work in their pajamas. It is the biggest scam ever. They ain’t doing jack sheeet at home except filing useless reports that will never be read. They are 100% in maintenance mode. Making useless phone calls and zooming it in, into useless conferences. And jive collaborations.....

Federal “workers” were sleepwalking before the pandemic /scamdemic. Now it is much much worse

President Biden signed an executive order late last year giving federal workers a 4.6% pay raise in 2023, an act that Congress chose not to override in the $1.7 trillion spending bill it passed at the end of the year

The largest pay raise I got in the last 15 years was 3%.

The largest raise I got in my career was about 10% when I was promoted to supervisor. (A lot more work and a lot more responsibility)

So, they just last year got a raise that exceeded by far any raise I got in my life while working the same job.

And now this politically posturing A$$ wants to give millions of people living off the sweat of the taxpayers a raise larger than vast majority of those taxpayers ever got in their entire lives and probably ever will simply because the hight have been offended by Trump.

Everybody suffered because of COVID (realistically because of the government’s over reaction to COVID).

Why should government workers get special treatment at the expense of everyone else.

Give those that came to the office every day or were doing inspections a 4% raise. Take 4% away from those that were and are working from home for the lower work productivity and for the travel, work and clothing expenses they did not have to pay while sitting at home.

Democrats not telling the real story, again.

Covid may have cut the number of jobs, but not in the federal government.

Pay cuts may have happened, but not during the Trump years.

The whole country did suffer a huge pay cut, but, ONLY DURING THE BIDEN YEARS OF INFLATION, to the tune of 6-8% pay cuts.

Democrats want to place the blame on Trump and republicans, but,

FACT is that, it was the democrats who made the Covid crisis much larger than it needed to be, and it was democrats who increased spending tremendously, thus, a double whammy from democrats against the economic well-being of Americans and the country.

To democrats, never let a crisis go to waste, and as often as possible, create a crisis in order to take advantage of it with huge spending and democrats party agenda items passed in congress.

Just about anything that harms the country, came about because of democrat presidents and/or democrat congresses.

Pay increases is just a gimmick to win votes, and to also place blame on Trump and republicans. Kill fossil fuels and blame Trump and republicans for the ensuing jobs cuts and rising prices and lowered ability to make a good living: That’s how democrats WIN, especially when there is nobody fighting back and pointing out the truth behind the evil democrat tactics.

Cut the federal work force by 60%. Lower the wages of those left by 50% and demand that they double their productivity. Immediately fire anyone who squawks about it.

Yes indeed!

Cut work force by 50%...
Reduce the pay of the remaining by 50%...
That would be a decent start...

Proof Democrats are insane. Only they could believe this.
