The cases are markedly different in their particulars. But they are similar enough that as a practical matter, Democrats will have a hard time using the issue against former President Donald J. Trump.
WASHINGTON — F.B.I. agents are rummaging through President Biden’s private home. Republicans are on the attack. Democrats are reluctant to defend him. Lawyers are being hired. Witnesses are being interviewed. The press secretary is being pelted with questions she cannot or will not answer.
But amid the familiar soundtrack of scandal in Washington, the most significant cost to the president may be the opportunity cost: Even if nothing comes of the new special counsel investigation into his team’s mishandling of classified documents, politically it has effectively let former President Donald J. Trump off the hook for hoarding secret papers.

The bias is still so obvious...
Tacit admission from the New York Tards that the whole thing had nothing to do with illegality but was always just a political persecution of Trump.
They flung poo at a fan and it all came right back in their face.
LOL
This is a slight of hand to protect Biden. We demand that Biden be prosecuted. No trade off.
If laws were broken, it doesn’t matter who broke the law. You prosecute each according to his misdeeds.
If your prosecution is a political job... yes, things get stickier when your own guy does worse than your target.
Who is “Deep Throat”?
“.....for hoarding secret papers.”
BWAAAAAHAHAHAHA, wordsmithing at it’s worst.
The word “complicates” does some heavy lifting in this NYT headline.
—”The cases are markedly different in their particulars.”—
—probably the only true statement in the whole article—
Hey, it’s complicated.
“...it has effectively let former President Donald J. Trump off the hook.”
We were sure we had him this time! Russia, Russia, Russia looked so promising. The Ukraine phone call, the January 6th attempted coup/insurrection/rebellion, all failed to bring him down. Even releasing his tax records fizzled out. We could prove with geometric logic that there was a duplicate key to the wardroom freezer...
There is no case against Trump setup agenda dies.
Yep. The two cases are different. Trump had the power to declassify any document wanted to for any reason or no reason. Biden as VP had no power to even order the cleaning staff around. If a clerk did what Biden did he would be in jail. The VP has less power than s GS1 floor sweeper.
Yes in the way a thief robbing a bank ‘complicates ‘ a case against person making a withdrawal.
Does anyone find it interesting that in December it came out that Joe Biden didn’t trust his Secret Service because of their support of Trump, along with one of the agents lying about being bitten by his dog.
Knowing about the classified documents at that time, was Joe planning on blaming his SS detail of planting the classified documents?
This opens up Pandora’s box on all former living ex presidents, vp’s, and cabinet members regarding the FBI’s raiding residences, libraries, and warehouses.
