By popular request, this is Night Cap thread from "High Noon" LIVE from D.C. in the heart of the Swamp!
Did McCarthy make a deal to get enough support from the Stubborn Six (TM registerd by Dr. Franklin) hold out Republicans to become Speaker? Or maybe to get the Dems to vote present, or not vote, such that he might become Speaker underhandedly, e.g., A new post office in your district if you stay home tonight my Uniparty Dem buddy?
Will Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) again nominate President Donald John Trump, the rightful President of the United States, to be Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, such that he might return as POTUS after a successful petition for writ of quo warranto to remove Slow Joe and the Ho?
Do the Dems have a token white Congresscritter to nominate Jeffries to show they are a party of ethnic diversity?
Stay tuned to this Bat Channel!
Same with Eli Crane. He said 90% of his constituents were against KM
Same as the old boss
Civics? question -
Whats with a “committee” to escort the speaker elect to the chair... then naming off most of the members....???? Whats with that?
Thnx
Shame that McTraitor doesn’t have the spine to stand behind biden at the sotus and rip his speech page by page.
At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, best case, and worst case, putting my life on the line by posting something like this online, I saw some things tonight that will never by covered by the media, now.
What I saw, was McCarthy losing the first vote. Gaetz withheld his vote to the very end, and he per Steve Kornacki on MSNBC, he could have pushed McCarthy over the line by voting for McCarthy, but by voting Present, he denied McCarthy the win.
THEN, a motion was put forth to adjourn until Monday, which PASSED, albeit barely, but it was done, as commentators on several networks acknowledged this, and spoke of how interesting the political discussions would be over the weekend, in preparation.
While these discussions were ongoing, the CSPAN cameras continued to scan the floor.
First, we saw McCarthy come over and address Gaetz. Then, we saw Dan Crenshaw address Gaetz.
Then, inexplicably, we suddenly heard there would now be a new vote, TONIGHT, not Monday, on who the Speaker would be.
That vote, has been COMPLETELY different from all other votes, and has so far been in McCarthy’s favor.
So my question is obvious, WHY WAS THE VOTE NOT POSTPONED TO MONDAY as they originally voted?
And WHAT DID MCCARTHY AND CRENSHAW SAY TO GAETZ TO CHANGE HIS VOTE?
Trump supported McCarthy, and Trump definitely is not a RINO.
“...Whats with a “committee” to escort the speaker elect to the chair..”

Call it ceremony, or tradition, or just “theater”...
Trump’s not a RINO but he’s also a bad judge of what a RINO is...
His constituents told him to.
It goes back quite a few years.
In 2008, Denny Hastert was the Speaker when Mark Foley (R-FL) was caught in a sexting scandal with male House Pages. John Boehner was the Majority Leader and Eric Cantor was the Majority Whip.
Nancy Pelosi hammered Republicans with a "for the children's safety" campaign theme and voters threw out the Republicans and Pelosi became Speaker.
When Democrats took over in 2009, Hastert left and Boehner/Cantor retained their leadership roles in the minority.
Two years later, voters restored Republicans to the House majority and Boehner became speaker, making Eric Cantor the Majority Leader and Kevin McCarthy became the Majority Whip.
Another two years later, Eric Cantor lost his primary to local college economics professor Dave Brat, elevating McCarthy to Majority Leader and Steve Scalise became the Majority Whip.
Four years after that, Boehner was thrown out by a motion to vacate, where he lost the vote. Paul Ryan became the Speaker after McCarthy declined to run.
Four years after that, Democrats retake the House, Ryan resigns from Congress, and McCarthy/Scalise retain their leadership roles in the minority.
And here we are now. McCarthy is elevated to Speaker.

I don’t know. All I know is that my husband is very good at reading lips. Earlier tonight (at the end if the 14th vote), hubby told me that Matt Gaetz said (to people around him): “They told me if I voted Present, Kevin would win.”
Probably…
He reminds me a lot of Michael Cohen, Trump’s brain-deficient, former gofer lawyer
Interesting.
Ahhhh... the “good - ol - boy” system. Groomed for the gig? LOL
