Ukrainian forces are on the brink of recapturing the strategically important city of Kreminna in the east, according to a local official.
Serhiy Haidai, regional governor of the contested Luhansk region, which was annexed by Vladimir Putin after a sham referendum, tweeted Monday that the military command of the Russian forces “has left #kreminna, which the Ukrainian military is approaching…”
Haidi added that the fighting was already raging not far from the city.
In a Telegram post Tuesday, the official wrote: “the Russians understand that if they lose Kreminna, their entire line of defense will ‘fall.'”
In a Christmas Eve tweet, Haidai said that the Russian occupiers are akin to “rats on the run” who are fleeing ahead of the advancing Ukrainian soldiers.

What are we getting for $20B? They “bang for the buck” is not there. Wonder where the Money is going? It’s not showing up on the ground.

10 Times less actually of runners but still many. 1 mln is including foreign guest workers who got scared of war and returned to their countries. Today they began returning back. Also some of runners went out with their families.
Runners showed that they are unreliable people. Some of them even left their families behind.
These men have completely destroyed their lifes so. No girl will marry such guy because who knows if he will flee of any life difficulties.
Also they lost any career in Russia. None will hire them to any significant position in future. Also based on same thought. They are outright unreliable.
Also none will vote for them and so on.
Ukraines military always seems to be ‘on the verge’ in this conflict.....then it’s Russia’s turn who is “retreating”....thus it goes back and forth like conflicts do.

The source is also described in other sources as a “ former” provincial authority from when Luhansk was part of Ukraine, but since joining the RF, after an overwhelming pro-Russia vote, pretty sure Luhansk has new provincial authorities.
This former governor/mayor/whatever has been tweeting pro-Uke ra ra reports for months. Not sure his analysis is, how they say, unbiased.

Ukraine has previously recaptured Bilohorivka about 10 to 15 km away from Lysychanks and Sievierodonetsk. If they take Kreminna to the Northwest, it opens the way to take all the roads and towns to the north of Lysychanks and Sievierodonetsk. If those two cities are recaptured, Russia's control over the Luhansk Oblast and Northeast Ukraine is finished. Supporting Russian forces south in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson will become extremely difficult without safe land corridors from Russian territory.
Instead, Russia throws men away in Bakhmut.

Conclusion: I don’t know if they withdrew on purpose and indeed created a “trap” for UKR troops, as they claim.
But fact is, their counter counter-offensive was brutal, quick and successful. I won’t share images of killed Ukrainians in the town.
But that’s not only my conclusion.
