Philosophers seeking to answer questions around inequality in household labour and the invisibility of women's work in the home have proposed a new theory -- that men and women are trained by society to see different possibilities for action in the same domestic environment.
They say a view called "affordance theory" -- that we experience objects and situations as having actions implicitly attached -- underwrites the age-old gender disparity when it comes to the myriad mundane tasks of daily home maintenance.
For example, women may look at a surface and see an implied action -- 'to be wiped' -- whereas men may just observe a crumb-covered countertop.
The philosophers believe these deep-seated gender divides in domestic perception can be altered through societal interventions such as extended paternal leave, which will encourage men to build up mental associations for household tasks.

::I married a man. I don’t want, and have never wanted, my man to act like a woman.::

Well said. Same here.
I guess this a 'fail', then ... 😂
When I was a bachelor, I mostly used paper plates and plastic cups and cutlery. I might have a real knife to cut meat. Guests got Chinets. I dislike doing dishes. My wife dislikes paper plates and plastic cups and cutlery. Hence, she does dishes.
I know which task you’d rather do 100% of the time, too, if you had to pick between the two.
Yup / same with my wife - she has 2 walk in closets and 2 regular closets full of clothes, plus several dressers and never has “anything to wear”
You should see a dressing room in a retail store when women leave them......oh my gosh are they a disaster. I think any women who has nagged their husband to pick up his clothes Gods going to show them how their wife was in a retail store!
Wow.....VERY impressive!!
Good for you.....may you keep right on keeping on.
;-)
You have the ‘Ideal” arrangement!
And no, I don't ‘’enjoy the hunt’’. Bugs don't belong indoors.
I do admire spiders though. They kill flies. And I like centipedes. They kill roaches.
Fortunately though cockroaches are not a problem where I live, certainly not in my house.
What I do enjoy immensely and off the subject is playing my drums.
In other words a bunch of word salad BS from an over educated non person.
She needs some serious clearing out!
There is one thing women don’t do, can not do or ever will do: Kill bugs. Women can not bring themselves to ever kill a bug. I wish someone would explain that to me.

Mine will. She will call me if I’m home, otherwise she will go after bugs - and scorpions - with a broom. She will tell me about her battle later in great detail.
Honestly - I’d pay to see her swinging that broom.
Actually, smart guys kill fearsome Palmetto Bugs for us Southern Ladies and earn our undying gratitude (not to mention our finest peach cobbler).
I think perhaps everyone is primed for the battle of the sexes without seeing the link between the demise of the extended family and all the extra work young parents get stuck with.
I CAN kill bugs-—and scorpions—and spiders.
And used to ride my horses packing (open carry) a .38 with snake shot.
One spring, killed 7 or 8 snakes-— carried such for at least 20 years in the spring. Local park employee (12,000 + acres) asked WHY I was carrying.I told him. He told the 3 of us riding where they had found a passle of VERY large rattlers that spring—and told me I could shoot all of them I could find, as he laughed.
I also shot the 8 button 42” one on my property in 1994.
Well.....our tree roaches are only about 2 - 3 inches long. Nothing compared to your mice roaches!!
Killed a stink bug just today.
