I CAN kill bugs-—and scorpions—and spiders.
And used to ride my horses packing (open carry) a .38 with snake shot.
One spring, killed 7 or 8 snakes-— carried such for at least 20 years in the spring. Local park employee (12,000 + acres) asked WHY I was carrying.I told him. He told the 3 of us riding where they had found a passle of VERY large rattlers that spring—and told me I could shoot all of them I could find, as he laughed.
I also shot the 8 button 42” one on my property in 1994.
Are you in the desert?
What part of the country?
That is some rough riding :-)
I live in southern NJ and I don't own a firearm. Can't. I have an anxiety condition and have to sometimes take Xanax when it gets bad so I can't get a permit.Been meaning to get a pellet gun but got to do it on the sly if I do. They're illegal in this wretched state. I live on the edge on The New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Back in the summer just as dusk was coming on and I was cleaning up after cooking streaks for me and the wife I noticed a skunk come out from behind my shed. I have a big back yard.
I knew right away something was wrong with this thing. It was out in what was left of day light it was shaking, wobbling from side to side and acting erratic. Rabies for sure.
I had to beat the thing to death with a shovel.
I buried it quick. I sure as hell wasn't going to call the animal control people. They'd have been all over the place because my wife feeds a couple of stray cats in the yard.
We trapped those a few years ago and had them neutered and vaccinated. I like cats don't get me wrong but I'd love to get rid of the things because her putting out food for them is the dinner bell for skunks and raccoon.
We;ve got loads of those critters out here.
Btw good shooting on those snakes.
