Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX) said Thursday on CNN’s “At This Hour” that the United States giving aid to help Ukraine fight against Russia’s invasion has “destroyed the Russian military without one American soldier being killed.”
On Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to a joint meeting of Congress, McCaul said, “What I appreciated about his speech, a couple of things. One were the parallels that he made to World War II. That would be my father’s war. When we go to Poland, they talk about 1939 and Hitler, and had we stopped him at that point in time, we would have saved so much blood, and treasure from occurring, and what we’re seeing right now is a struggle for the global balance of power in the world, and that is Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. Chairman Xi in China is looking at Taiwan and then Putin in Ukraine. You cannot bifurcate these world powers, and they’re all against freedom and democracy in the west. I was worried that it would be politicized, but I thought he gave a tremendous speech that was inspiring to not only the United States but to the world.”

Unthinkable, yes, but last night would have been Putin’s best opportunity, so I don’t think he will ever actually start a nuclear war.
Plenty of those with that same mentality on FR these days unfortunately. I grew up in the 50's, and know full well what the mentality was back then. Democrats and Republicans both are using that same mentality today to destroy this country, and drain it dry.
In what world was direct combat between Russia and the US going to be anything but nuclear? By my count the Russians have their whole nuclear arsenal intact.
I've been arguing with someone here who is claiming that our being involved in Ukraine is stopping the spread of Communism. I told them, this country is run by commies, and owned by Communist China. I don't understand the mentality of people today.
If we destroyed the Russian military, why not send in NATO to for the mop up operation.
And World War III will be YOUR war, you insane fool. What does this McCaul idiot think will happen if we succeed in decimating Russia’s conventional forces? Does he think the world will be safer if Russia is left with nothing but their nuclear forces?
Everyone lusting for Russia’s destruction, including the small cult of clueless maniacs here on FR, is driving the world toward Armageddon.

We don’t know how many Americans have been killed…over a thousand mercs at least, probably comforting that this guy is clueless.
Meanwhile Russia has decided to increase its military from 1 million to 1.5 million, 700,000 combat, to increase the compulsory service age from 18 to 21 and increase service time from 1 yr to 2 yr…to build a more mature force with some education. Ukraine has given several hundred thousand Russian troops and planners real wartime experience vs NATO equipment and tactics. We’ve convinced a great many Russians and the Russian govt that Putin was right…the West is unreliable as partners and avid to destroy their nation. And we’ve pushed Russia to look East for its strategic economic and military interests.

Biden and the democrats have done more to destroy freedom and (sigh) ‘democracy’ in the west than any one in history. He and his merry band of marxists have made certain there will be a world war the likes of which will make the last two look like picnics.
