Trump addresses Log Cabin Republicans at Mar-a-Lago gala
The Los Angeles Blade ^ | December 16, 2022 | Christopher Kane

Former President Donald Trump addressed an audience gathered at his Mar-a-Lago club and estate in Palm Beach, Fla., Thursday night for the Log Cabin Republicans’ Spirit of Lincoln gala, the conservative LGBTQ group’s flagship event.

“We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard,” Trump said.

“Last night, we had over 450 LGBT conservatives and our straight allies join us for another amazing Spirit of Lincoln gala,” Log Cabin Republicans President Charles Moran told the Washington Blade.

“While the speakers and award honorees spanned the conservative spectrum, all of them, including President Trump, articulated a deep appreciation for our community and committed to our broader inclusion and support for gay rights,” Moran said, adding, “This is the bar we’ll be holding all GOP candidates to in 2023 and 2024.”

Last year, the Log Cabin Republicans honored Melania Trump with its Spirit of Lincoln award, citing her work combatting bullying in her role as first lady.

However, the group’s support of the former president, his family and his administration has not come without controversy — even among members of its own leadership, prompting Jerri Ann Henry to resign from her position as executive director in 2019.

Welcome to reality, fellow Americans. I am a native NYer who watched while Trump inundated the media there for at least twenty years. He was everywhere. Always building and putting his name on what he built along with the ubiquitous gold veneer on everything.

Turn on the local TV and there he was as a special guest. Turn on AM radio and who was their guest today? Billionaire Donald Trump.

By the way, he was quite liberal, pro-choice, anti-gun, pro-gay. Spent lots of time with celebrity leftists.

I never trusted him but voted for him twice as it was only reasonable considering his opponents. But here's the truth about Trump:

He's a RINO.

I understand what you are saying, but you lost the culture war a long time ago. Fighting now is pointless.

Marriage was destroyed when no-fault divorce was created.

Making “emotional” spousal abuse the center of feminism destroyed marriage.

Celebrating Murphy Brown as a single parent destroyed marriage.

Calling homosexual unions “marriage” destroyed marriage.

Marriage is meaningless now. You lost. There is no going back.

You may be half right but if you think what he has to go through fun think again.

What do you mean?

Trump loved the campaign trail! The adoring crowds, the packed rallies, the press attention. He had a blast! He was like a rock star on tour.

It was nothing like actually being president.

And it will get worse for your DeSantis doll when we drag out the skeletons in his attic.

Who's "we"? You're going to do the libs' work for them?

Speaks volumes about the nuttiness of some Trump devotees.

That’s exactly right.

MAGA is about restoring individual liberty, per the Constitution.

To get 50%, Trump needs the votes of ALL freedom-loving people fighting - even those who exercise their freedom in ways he doesn’t approve of.

Now is not the time to alienate potential allies in the fight for freedom. Let’s win back our freedom first, and THEN use our freedom of speech, our freedom of assembly, our freedom of religion - to advocate for what we believe is right.

Of course you’re right. Morality these days is sorely lacking across our culture. It does not bode well for the future of America.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. - John Adams

Whether we’ve lost the culture war or not, it doesn’t mean I’m going to give up calling on people to wake up and see what’s truly tearing our country apart. It’s not politics so much as a society that has turned against God.

Turning back to the original topic, Trump does himself no favors by aligning with the Log Cabin Republicans. Trump isn’t a preacher. I get that, but the moral issues do matter, and conservatives shouldn’t be neutral on such matters. Why? It should be obvious. You cannot maintain a free society when most people don’t control their base impulses.

I lived in New York state for less than a year and didn't register to vote since I was only there for a temporary job, and did not pay much attention to Trump before 2015--never watched any of his TV programs. When he ran the first time I was distrustful because he seemed to be a typical NY liberal. I did vote for him in the general election in 2016 and thought that, on the whole, he was the best President of my lifetime, despite the lukewarm support he got from his own party.

But he also made mistakes, and if he couldn't win re-election when he was the incumbent, how will he defeat the Democrat fraud machine in 2024? Nothing has been done to enhance election integrity in the crucial states where the electoral votes were stolen from him in 2020.

He may perhaps be the nominee in 2024 but I see very little chance of him winning the general election. It may be that no Republican can win because the Democrats have fine-tuned election fraud in the important swing states.

Trumps Achilles heel is his advocacy of this perversion. I hate it, because I really like Trump. It marks him as some weird combination of conservatism and barbarism, like a mythological Greek creature.

He is not being inclusive of the millions who view the homosexual political cabal as a threat to our nation and our civil liberties esp. freedom of religion.

If he has embraced this as the article states; if the article is true; he has lost me.

Homosexuality is not just a moral evil. It is a political evil and will not rest until it has all of the nation praising it. All who oppose will be silenced. Corruption and seduction of children is the order of the day. Don’t be naive.

We can NOT coexist.

That was my point. We conservatives cannot co-exist with a society ruled by the amoral. It doesn’t matter how much Trump personally supports religious freedom, assuming he does. If the government holds “gay marriage” in the same regard as real marriage, then it will have to endorse “married” gays in our public institutions. Schools will teach our children there is nothing wrong with two mommies or two dads for example, and if we Christians want to raise our children to love God, we will be forced out of the general society.

It’s simply impossible to be a libertarian on these sorts of issues, because a largely amoral culture will ultimately result in the loss of liberty. “Whatever consenting adults” do is a very naive perspective on life, because we are not little islands. We share this world, and the things that other people do, even in private, affect the world around them.

This is even more so in a culture where everyone is apparently responsible for everyone else, without any authority to say what’s right or wrong. What do I mean? I mean voters consistently vote for government (meaning us) to pay for their bad choices in life.

I support gay unions (I do not think they should be called marriage, but another term). I am fine with transgendered people (leave kids alone). I do not believe anyone should physically harm such people. I do not have a problem with the Log Cabin Republicans either.

God made man and women distinctively different yet uniquely compatible and complementary, and only joined them together in marriage - as the Lord Jesus Himself specified (Mt. 19:4–6) - and Scripture only condemns homosexual relations wherever they are manifestly dealt with.

Yet there is still room at the cross for all who will come to God in repentance and faith, and trust in the Divine Son of God sent by the Father, the risen Lord Jesus, to save them on His account, by His sinless shed blood, and thus be baptized and live for Him. Acts 10:36-47

But if you damnably do not care about what your Creator says, and even think homosexual fornication does not affect you, then at least you could consider your wallet.

"The estimated discounted lifetime cost for persons who become HIV infected at age 35 is $326,500 (60% for antiretroviral medications, 15% for other medications, 25% non-drug costs). [Undiscounted "mean lifetime costs are $597,300 ($4,200)" "Discounted costs are highlighted throughout because they represent economic costs that take into account time preferences of individuals and society and the opportunity cost of funds"] The Lifetime Medical Cost Savings from Preventing HIV in the United States

Costs also can include those for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) [which was] at more than $1,700 for 30 tablets (https://mosaicscience.com/story/hiv-prep-truvada-prevention-sti-std-lgbtqi-gay-condom-pride/).

The cost for  PrEP medication is about  2,000 a month, and which "Most health insurance plans, including Medicaid, cover." (https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/stds-hiv-safer-sex/hiv-aids/prep) For any Medicaid insured HIV-negative adult 18 years of age or older patients, lab testing and prescription medication costs are 100% covered. (https://www.louisianahealthhub.org/teleprep/)

In 2017, around 61,300 people were actively taking PrEP.
(https://www.avert.org/professionals/hiv-around-world/western-central-europe-north-america/usa) with the rate of PrEP users per 100,000 population in 2018 being 68. (https://aidsvu.org/local-data/united-states)

The Ready, Set, PrEP program makes PrEP medication available at no cost for qualifying recipients who lack prescription drug coverage, and  are tested for HIV with a negative result, and have a prescription for PrEP. (https://www.getyourprep.com/)

EDIT: "the federal government has announced that almost all health insurers must cover the HIV prevention pill, known as PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, with no cost sharing — including for the drug itself and, crucially, for clinic visits and lab tests...This means...Truvada or Descovy, the two approved forms of PrEP, should now be totally free for almost all insured individuals....when taken daily, the tablet reduces men’s risk of contracting the virus from sex with other men by more than 99 percent...PrEP use remains largely limited to white gay and bisexual men...Gilead readily provides PrEP for free to lower-income people who lack health insurance, but the pharmaceutical company does not cover the associated clinic visits and lab tests...Since this spring, Truvada has been available in a generic form with a list price as low as $30 per month. By comparison, Descovy’s list price is currently $1,930 and Truvada’s is $1,842....

Which raises  raises private insurance rates and or taxes for all who pay them.

Such are just part of the financial and societal costs  that affect every one to varying degrees due to man disobeying God's program, in which sexual union is only between male and female in marriage. And which provides the stable safe environment for trust and intimacy and for  children which are to result, versus  fornication as well as artificial contraceptives.

Young gay and bisexual men accounted for 83% (6,385) of all new HIV diagnoses in people aged 13 to 24 in 2019, and 92% of HIV infections among men aged 13 to 24 was attributed to male-to-male sexual contact:

In 2019, heterosexual men accounted for 7% of HIV diagnoses, and heterosexual women accounted for 16% of HIV diagnoses.

The largest percentage of HIV infections was attributed to male-to-male sexual contact (66% overall and 81% among males). .

Also according to the CDC (chart),

in 2017  male to male sexual contact was the mode of transmission in 92% of new HIV cases among male youth aged 13 to 24, and  MSM  accounted for 81% of diagnoses among males  and 70%  of all new HIV diagnoses, and 2 out of every 3 diagnoses in the United States.  Which is despite only representing approximately 4% of the male population).

And which practice (historically)  has resulted in a greatly increased incidence of other infectious diseases   and premature death.  (Even when their disease is well controlled, people with HIV can develop aging-related conditions such as cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, kidney and liver disease, osteoporosis, and cognitive impairment decades ahead of their HIV-negative counterparts, and their life expectancy is significantly reduced.) And which practice is primarily responsible for more than 700,000 people with AIDS having died (as of 2017) since the beginning of the epidemic  - HIV/AIDS has killed more than 700,000 people in the U.S. since 1981despite decades of attempting to tame it into being "safe."  (Worldwide, 77.3 million people have contracted HIV and 35.4 million have died of AIDS-related illnesses since the beginning of the pandemic in 1981 (https://health.usnews.com/conditions/hiv-aids/articles/hiv-statistics)

More.
