Former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden’s Brittney Griner prisoner swap as “stupid” and “unpatriotic embarrassment.”
Issuing the statement on Truth Social, Trump said the swap was a bad deal because Biden traded an ex-WNBA basketball star for notorious Russian arms dealers Viktor Bout, “one of the biggest arms dealers anywhere in the world.”
Trump said the trade was especially grievous because Griner has been “openly” hateful towards her own nation.

Based on the budget deficits during his term I’m not sure thwarting is the right word.

A very relevant question. Of all the possible responses, perhaps the best is that he is an American that cares for his country. I expect that he will give us more on this during campaign speeches.
Why vote for someone so unable to make government work?
The question is flawed insofar as it assumes he was "unable" to make the government work. We all know that politics is a team sport and while his R team gave us lip service, a critical number of them stabbed him in the back. So the answer to the better question in that regard is the classic argument when one is confronted with a life-changing event: "there is a time for a man (voter) to stand up".
Biden just announced Griner was a representation of America's best. That is the face of the America the D's and the anti-MAGA's have in mind.

Hannity just said on his radio show that NBC is reporting that Biden had a choice between Whelan OR Griner or zilch.

Please, read the post by Bikkuri (linked below). PDJT was one of the most succesful presidents ever, despite the conspiracy run by HRC, DNC, DOJ, and suported by the GOPe. Unfortunately, that conspiracy made Russia and later the Ukraine a no-go-zone for Trump. The world suffers for that today!
