The House on Thursday passed a bill to safeguard marriage equality, sending the measure to President Biden’s desk and marking the first time Congress has provided federal protections for same-sex marriage.
The legislation, titled the Respect for Marriage Act, passed in a 258-169-1 vote. Thirty-nine Republicans joined all Democrats in supporting the measure.
The Senate approved the measure in a bipartisan 61-36 vote last week, notching a significant win for negotiators after months of talks that followed Justice Clarence Thomas floating the idea of overturning the Supreme Court decision protecting same-sex marriage.
Twelve Senate Republicans joined all voting Democrats to pass the bill.
Following the bill’s passage in the Senate, Biden said he would “promptly and proudly” sign it into law once it arrived on his desk.
The measure enshrines federal protections for same-sex couples, requiring that the federal government and all states recognize marriages if the pair was wed in a state where the union was legal. It also cements protections for interracial couples, ordering states to recognize marriages regardless of “the sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin of those individuals.”

Lawyers win again.
Might as well put Bigfoot on the endangered species list
Hope the bastards will enjoy the sound of knitting needles and old ladies cackling...
The problem is, I’m not sure how much voters care one way or the other. Remember we are a very very small minority.
Just like Supreme Court activist Roe v. Wade justices scandalously ignored that "abortion" is not found in the Constitution, neither is the word marriage.
In other words, desperate federal Democrats and RINOS have no constitutional power to define marriage, the 10th Amendment automatically making marriage uniquely a state power issue.
"10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Using the same logic, every state should recognize as valid concealed carry permits issued in any other state.
Nope. O’Biden wants Federal gov to control everything. And what business is it of government to condone marriage??
Lol for us, maybe not so much for the judge who makes the demand.
Which makes things all the more depressing.
I don’t know if we’ll get the awakening but we will for sure get the judgment.
Yahweh is judging America.
We need a spiritual awakening.

Surprising God’s written word has not been mentioned, yes, judgment is coming. Biblical history shows much difference between “ punishments “ , when codifying into LAW,( the law of the land) judgement always is more severe.
Nope. The late Cardinal George said it best: the state of Illinois has no more power to redefine marriage as they do to repeal the law of gravity.
United Satanists of American, one nation, against God, with liberty and justice for the few who are connected.
Just what do these minions of Satan mean with the words “marriage equality”, other than an Orwellian corruption of the language? Does that mean that if a state decides that two same sex siblings can get married (no genetic issues, unlike standard incest) then all states must recognize that abomination? It’s a real issue, since I have no doubt that demonic states like Commiefornia and New Yawk will eventually legalize such an absurdity, and other somewhat more sane states will finally reach a breaking point and say not just no, but hell no.
Please dox these so called Republicans.
To your point, I believe there’s no minimum age for marriage in California as long as the parents approve (as many of the new diversity-is-our-friend residents in California approve). For now, they mainly don’t move out of California because they’re afraid another state will rescue the child bride from the pedo groom. This law will prevent states from rescuing the poor girl.
I can’t wait for blacks to realize that the left has made them 2nd-tier citizens again. This law can get you sued for saying gay marriage is bad. But you can’t be sued for saying interracial marriage is bad.
