Winter is coming.
OK, technically meteorological winter arrived last week, beginning as it does every year on Dec. 1. Astronomical winter, which is the one that shows up on your calendar as “First Day of Winter,” doesn’t kick off until Dec. 21.
But if you drive a Ford F-150 Lighting electric pickup truck, it may have felt like winter to you for quite a while already, especially if you live in a colder climate and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for extending the vehicle’s range during the snowy season.
Because I don’t want to be accused of taking anything out of context, I’m going to just list those recommendations in their entirety, commenting as I go. (I’ll put Ford’s wording in italics for clarity, and I won’t cut anything they wrote — you can double-check me here if you’re the less trusting sort.)

And that goes for A/C in the summer as well. DON’T USE IT!
Also, make sure you don’t drive it. Driving it uses up electricity!
Those “D” batteries just don’t last like they used to.
Electric Vehicles the vehicles of idiots
All part of controlling the peasants, and limiting their mobility.
First EVs are optional, and promoted by govt and by the car manufacturers under govt coercion.
Gradually, ICE vehicles will be phased out, then banned, “to save the planet.”
Eventually, we’ll be geo-fenced to a certain radius around our homes. Our mandated “smart” EVs won’t work outside the geofence without special permission.
This will be tied to your “good comrade” score. Bad comrade? No vehicle charging for you.
Not the point. They are on the way to becoming MANDATORY.
See above for why.
“Ford Says Don’t Use Heater in Electric Truck in Winter to Save Battery”
Non-issue. People don’t buy a vehicle for its heater.
Isn’t this the same truck it took a guy two days to make a 4 hour trip because of recharging woes?
How about just don’t use an electric truck - PERIOD !!
Here’s your electric vehicle. Just don’t use it.

The Contradictions of Battery Operated Vehicles

Good TEDx Talk on the fallacies of CO2 reduction with battery vehicles.
Still buys into the “CO2 is destroying the planet!” mantra, but worthwhile nonetheless.
Oxford 2024: Climate lockdowns start — You will be tracked and trapped in your suburb and happy about it.
Totalitarian busybodies want to track your car, and expect you to ask permission to travel, not just overseas, but to the suburb next door. These are the same people flying in private jets to two week long UN junkets.
The 15 Minute City is a UN and WEF plan. You will be tracked and trapped in your suburb and happy about it.
It’s hard to believe but Oxford City Council is taking the benign idea of solving long commutes and with one hop, skip and a jump they’ve arrived at malignant tyranny. If you don’t like the idea of walking to work, and “saving the planet”, they will force you to catch that bus. But the unintended consequences are vast. You may have to move house, get a new job or get a divorce. You think you have the right to visit your children? Only with permission. Your whole lifestyle is up for grabs.
What about people who live on the edge of a zone? Will the stupidity of artificial borders mean people quit gyms or shops five minutes away which are in the wrong zone and drive 20 minutes instead? Emissions may rise…
It’s the social credit scheme that starts with your car.
Residents will be confined to their local neighbourhood and have to ask permission to leave it all to ‘save the planet’.
Oxfordshire County Council yesterday approved plans to lock residents into one of six zones to ‘save the planet’ from global warming. The latest stage in the ’15 minute city’ agenda is to place electronic gates on key roads in and out of the city, confining residents to their own neighbourhoods.

I saw this on Hoovies Garage yesterday along with the expected range halved..
This is completely understandable since the vast majority of corporate board members live on the coast in the People's Republic of Kalifornia where it's a constant 65-72 with ~50% humidity.
So in their eyes its your fault if you live somewhere that requires using power hungry accessories that harm Mother Gaia.
EVs are NOT about saving the planet.
That is correct.
However, if a vehicle's range decreases significantly in the winter because of the heater, then people won't (or shouldn't) buy the truck.
