Donald Trump is sometimes his own worst enemy but, as we know from Russiagate, he is also grossly misrepresented in the media. The former president was recently accused of calling for an end to the U.S. Constitution in an inarguably badly-worded TruthSocial post. But he has since clarified that he was not calling for an end to the Constitution. In fact, the post seems to be an awkward argument that a stolen election — and thus an illegitimate government — means that the Constitution would no longer be in force, and thus laws that exist for a republican form of government would not provide solutions. Whether or not his argument is true is a different issue.
Here’s the original post:
“So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”
Trump has now issued a clarification of his earlier post on the same platform, his TruthSocial:
“The Fake News is actually trying to convince the American People that I said I wanted to ‘terminate’ the Constitution. This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES, just like RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of their other HOAXES & SCAMS. What I said was that when there is ‘MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION,’ as has been irrefutably proven in the 2020 Presidential Election, steps must be immediately taken to RIGHT THE WRONG.

The truly controversial and bombshell thing Trump claimed was that we are no longer living in a Republic. That’s what the media — and the American people — should be debating.
Five-dimensional chess, I’m sure.
Trump’s right, and that’s exactly what I interpreted his statement to mean.
But of course the shrieking chorus started chanting their common hysteria.
God Bless HIM!!!!!
Yes.
He expressed himself badly
....again.
After 5 or 6 years of this, he should know better. He shouldn’t put himself in this position. The fact that he did speaks to very serious problems with his judgement.
You mean fake news was wrong yet again?
My surprised face: 😏
Anyone with a functional brain stem would have understood what he’d said, already.
/points finger at evil liberals and rinos
No matter how *perfectly* he may say *anything, ever*, the demon skinwalkers who stalk his every move will twist it into something else.
Just like they always have.
Pure Alinsky.
I think all of us Freepers, who have more than two functioning brain cells, interpreted his statement correctly. Liberal communists, who are brainless idiots, DELIBERATELY misunderstood him. Screw them.
yes-Trump should know now not to give them so much ammmo to shoot him with-not his best move
Trump would not be the man we all know and love if he has to run everything he says through a committee or a focus group —like RINOs do. Trump is fine. Let Trump be Trump as he fights the media and the leftists. Results are what counts.
He has funny ways to get people talking.
It doesnt matter what he says..no matter how clearly..media ALWAYS twists it.
To criticize him about this is to join the trump haters.
I know..i know..you were just sharing your opinion..so what.?? You just joined tbe trump bashers..
I know, yeah..oh i just wish trump wouldnt say stuff like that...duh, he’s Trump. Oh btw...he got a lot of mileage out of his remark.
Sorry, I read his original statement.
Oh please...say something new. Same old comments...Orange Man bad...he doesnt talk right.
Boring.
