"Taking this step means we are creating more inclusive spaces where racialized girls in Canada can feel welcome and proud to belong in Girl Guides. With this change, we hope even more girls will see Guiding as a space where they can just be themselves..."
Uh-oh. And what shall we call those delicious baked, chewy, choclatey cookie-ish desserts that sometimes have nuts or other things (especially if you’re a college kid) in them?
“I’m waiting for the Packers to have to change their name.”
I’ve been waiting years for the PC crowd to attack the Vikings name. The Vikings were marauders who kidnapped women wherever they went. But they keep getting a pass.
Until it is.
Everything else has been declared racist, and this was the only word that wasn’t “racist.”
A brownie or broonie (Scots),[1] also known as a brùnaidh or gruagach (Scottish Gaelic), is a household spirit or Hobgoblin from Scottish folklore that is said to come out at night while the owners of the house are asleep and perform various chores and farming tasks. The human owners of the house must leave a bowl of milk or cream or some other offering for the brownie, usually by the hearth. Brownies are described as easily offended and will leave their homes forever if they feel they have been insulted or in any way taken advantage of. Brownies are characteristically mischievous and are often said to punish or pull pranks on lazy servants. If angered, they are sometimes said to turn malicious, like boggarts.
World gone mad. Anyone remember the Indian guides?
Every word in the language offends someone.
The elites just want us to sit down and shut up—not even trying to hide it anymore.
My sister who was as white as snow was a Brownie.
Now that you mention it, is Snow White “racialized”?

The team is named after their first coach and owner, Paul Brown.

How did the Girl Scout Brownies get their name? In 1918 his wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell, took over the responsibility for the Girl Guides and thus for Brownies. Originally the girls were called Rosebuds, but were renamed by Lord Baden-Powell after the girls had complained that they didn’t like their name.
How about blackies
"Brownxs."
So did the girl scouts, the brownies wear brown uniforms...
