BBob Iger, the newly appointed CEO of Disney, pledged to double down on LGBT “storytelling” in the company’s animated kids’ movies during a Monday town hall with employees, according to The New York Times.
Iger served as CEO for 15 years before retiring in late 2020; he was brought back in about a year later after his successor, Bob Chapek, was fired, according to the NYT. Tumbling stock prices marked Chapek’s tenure as CEO, as did public outrage over the company’s political engagement in Florida and its alleged efforts to inject sexual content into children’s shows, particularly through gay and transgender characters.
An employee at the town hall asked Iger about the company’s commitment to LGBT storytelling in the future, and he responded affirmatively.
“One of the core values of our storytelling is inclusion and acceptance and tolerance, and we can’t lose that,” Iger said, according to the NYT. “We’re not going to make everyone happy all the time, and we’re not going to try to … We’re certainly not going to lessen our core values in order to make everyone happy all the time.”
The company initially found itself in hot water after coming out against Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill following a media pressure campaign urging Disney to do so; the legislation bans classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation in kindergarten through third grade. Soon after, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a law eliminating Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, ending special administrative and tax privileges the company had enjoyed since 1967.
Disney then stepped away from politics and quietly removed itself from the fight with DeSantis in an effort to preserve its special tax district.

Nah, the Empire is evil so they can stay binary and noninclusive. It will be the rebels that are all genderfluid prancing rainbows of diversity.
I remember when gay clubs were in the seedier part of town, with blacked out windows and a nondescript, perhaps slightly suggestive name.
Now they’re in the grammar schools.
well their latest movie bombed at the box office for that reason, so if they want to continue to bleed money go right ahead. Iger is not a solution to anything.
Last thing I saw was that Disney+ is losing money
Holes, digging, when to stop....
So Bobby, tell us about the giant flop Disney’s latest woke movie is. Tell us why you think normal parents will suddenly start to give a shit about more of the same.
Hope Chapter 11 is in Disney’s future.
Yes, no kidding...
...You mean the grandchillun weren’t actually wearing those vicious hats, but the photography added them? WHISKY TANGO FOXTROT???
Disney has been weird for many decades. Very early cartoons had sexual references and subliminal stuff - so quick the conscious mind doesn’t notice. Do some searches. I’ve seen youtubes a couple of years ago when looking into this.
I’ll try to freepmail you pix
I’ve been going through them in chronological order. Just finished Lady and the Tramp. There is a warning on that one now. I wonder if it is because the Siamese cats were sounding Japanese.
Wow. The Company is going down the tubes (rapidly), and, the guy now in charge is putting on the gas instead of hitting the brakes? This is insane.
Suicide of Disney Inc?
Or they can just sell. That's how most investors play the game.
The stock price indicates market demand (for the stock) every single day.
If Disney releases more movies like the last one, I predict more Disney losses.
The average American does not want this LBGTQXFIL crap shoved down their throats.
Sounds like a great time to short Disney stock.
Iger’s if anything the reason Disney’s been a sewage stinker since the late 2000s. He’s even worse than Chapek. At least Chapek actually DID attempt to limit woke programming for better or for worse before certain interest groups, possibly including Susan Arnold, his boss, forced him to take a stand regarding the DeSantis bill. Let’s not forget, the woke Pixar employees HATED how he restrained them on Disney+.
And let’s not forget, Iger’s the reason we DON’T have a Path to 9/11 DVD, not even via another company, and all so he’d ensure Hillary Clinton could potentially become president back in 2008. He’s our absolute WORST CEO ever, worse than even Eisner. For all of Eisner’s faults, and he had MANY faults, at least HE attempted to keep Disney mostly wholesome and did NOT want Disney to make a political stand (in fact, Miramax forcing Disney to distribute Fahrenheit 911 was a major factor in Disney cutting them loose).
