Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) said 20 members of the House Republican Conference are “pretty hard no” votes against House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) becoming Speaker next session.
Biggs said in an interview on the podcast Conservative Review with Daniel Horowitz that those who plan to not vote for McCarthy are not all from the House Freedom Caucus, the most conservative group in the body.
Biggs, a former chair of the Freedom Caucus, ran against McCarthy to be the GOP’s nominee for the speakership earlier this month. McCarthy won the vote, 188 to 31, with five representatives voting for neither.
But McCarthy needs to win 218 votes on Jan. 3, the first day of the next session of Congress, to become Speaker, and Republicans are set to hold only a narrow majority, meaning he cannot afford to lose many votes.

Reelect Nancy Pelosi.
Make her work with a Republican majority.
That would be interesting................
I’ve tried to tell you folks from day one...
McCarthy will sell out to get some Dems to cross over and the uniparty/globalist agenda will march on unabated.
He will offer some committee seats, hell, maybe even a Chair if he has to. Swalwell will end up back on Intel, too.

Alert: we are about to be sold out full monkey stomp style
But given that they did choose to run under the Republican brand, sabotaging the election of the caucus election for Speaker, and enabling the election of someone further to the left, is a betrayal of many of those who voted for them.
Put Donald J. Trump’s name into nomination for House Speaker and shake out all the GOP members who do not support President Trump.
I realize that many here think that McCarthy is not their first choice for Speaker. But which other Republican would likely win? After winning the House we’re going to turn over the leadership to the dems? Someone explain to me how that makes things better.
The Dems really want McCarthy
OK.
First ballot:
Pelosi 214
McCarthy 201
Some idiot 20.
Second ballot: Which is more likely: that Pelosi picks off 4 RINOs and becomes Speaker, OR that Some idiot picks up ALL of McCarthy's 201 votes and becomes Speaker?
I mean, seriously...
Only 20 out of @222?
U call that good news.
I don’t think it’s “good” news.
I don’t think it’s “bad” news.
It can be frightening if someone like Paul Ryan or similar is rammed into the Speakership.
Utter MTG repeated nonsense.
Hear ye, I nominate Donald Trump for Speaker of the House!
You are not alone in that thinking.
Not being argumentative here, just want to see what are the possible alternatives that a conservative could support.
If not McCarthy ... who?
Don't kid yourself my friend, McCarthy has zero intentions of removing Swallowswell or Schiff-for-brains from Intel. Same for removing the dingbat muslim that married her brother from MN from whatever committee that thing is on.
Stacey Abrams will be available once she’s done helping the DEMS with the voter fraud in GA’s runoff election for Senator. /s
If McCarthy doesn’t get does a democrat?.
