The owners can not afford to stop every day to recharge.

Sure they can!

Just charge more for hauling stuff!

Since fossil fuel use is so very bad, I believe that California ought to ban it tomorrow, completely. Stop beating around the bush, and just DO IT!

I believe the Houston Ship Channel is being renovated. They’ll be able to take up the slack.

Wait until this guy is president. Biden admires him. Biden wants a national AB5 which banned most independent contractors.

"Doubtful that the 'animal rights' crowd would allow that .."

In an innovative repurposing of buggy whips in the modern and woke age, they will be used for motivating the humans pulling the wagons.

The horses and oxen will be loving trained on using those whips on their humans to encourage them to pull the wagons and their loads up the Grapevine with more enthusiasm.

Ain't progress wonderful?

“...where feasible.”

^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^

...is their “escape hatch.”

When push comes to shove, the proposal will not turn out to be feasible.

Thanks for the information. I haven't lived in TX for quite awhile so am out of touch with their changes. I've been in GA for 20 years and now NC for the last year. Retired and living in a mountain cabin now. Life is good!

NC down to Jacksonville have exploded their port capacities the last 5 years. Brunswick, GA has very significantly increased its port capacity plus has been innovative in establishing inland container “ports” complete with customs clearance and IIRC, duty free holding. With respect to any port, capacity is a function of wharf length, crane and bulk handling equipment, on-site laydown area and rail and truck yards.

The inland ports to GA Brunswick connection hotshots containers via rail between the seaport and several GA inland ports thus reducing congestion and container handling at the seaport. The northernmost inland port especially is excellently located for rail and truck links to the Midwest and NE and is 45 minutes by truck to connect to barges on the TN River when needed.

Wonderful equestrian tale, alloysteel. At least one thing climate change debaters can agree on — transportation requires horsepower!
