Slain Idaho student Kaylee Goncalves called mystery man 7 times hour before her murder, sister says

Two of the four slain University of Idaho students called a mystery man 10 times shortly before their murder, according to the sister of one of the victims.

Kaylee Goncalves made the calls beginning at around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, her sister Alivea told Inside Edition Friday.

“Kaylee calls [the man] six times between 2:26 a.m. and 2:44 a.m…. then Kaylee makes a final call to him at 2:52 a.m.,” Alivea said.

Roommate Madison Mogen called the same mystery man three times, from 2:44 to 2:52, Alivea said.

The Post redacted the name of the man as recited to the outlet, as he had not been named as a suspect by law enforcement authorities.

So what is the problem with finding the guy if they have his pic and phone number?

I wonder how they can be so precise about the time.

I believe that measuring the temperature of the brain is considered to be the most precise as the decline in brain temperature after death is very predictable. I don't know if this method is accurate to the minute, though. Someone has mentioned an Apple watch. That sounds very plausible. Because it monitors heart function, it would show when the heart stopped and I'm sure to the minute.

They probably backed out of a three way.

“...then Kaylee makes a final call to him at 2:52 a.m....” Coroner says time of death 2:53 a.m.

Something about that time line seems off.

If the guy on the call did it, he had to have been very close to the murder scene on that last call. Did he live close by or was he parked outside or already on his way? Maybe that's why he wasn't named a suspect? If he was on the phone at 2:52 but GPS information on the phone shows him not near the site, he has an alibi.

Was it reported that the victims were likely asleep at the time of the attack. If so, Kaylee fell asleep in a hurry.

Might be best not to be a murderer, terrorist or a cheating spouse since you don’t know that I can log into my cell plan and see who everyone who is being called. I can also turn peoples find my phone or other less obvious tracking apps on phones. Since I bought them, paid the plan … they are my property and hence not illegal.

Well that explains a lot. I seem to remember someone says TOD was around 4:00 but despite being a U of I alum and having taught there for five years, I haven't followed the case as close as some have. I have been kind of catching up today while keeping one eye on cfb games.

Broken watch or phone I would bet.
Based on my vast experience watching murder mysteries on tv like Colombo

Here’s a wild guess: the kids paid up front in a drug deal, but turned to threats when delivery was slow and started to seem iffy. My guess is that the cops think they know who it is and have his location, but they want a case with forensic results in hand before making an arrest.

“ There might be a simple explanation: Maybe Kaylee’s boyfriend Jack was supposed to come over and meet Kaylee at the house. When he didn’t show up, Kaylee and her best friend started calling him.”

It was too late they were toast after being at the bar for 3.5 hours then the food truck and finally home. Looks like they were calling it a night imo. Maddie was leaning on the food cart pretty hard

I don’t think it was a coincidence this many calls were place to jacks number from both phones right up to the estimated window of death (3-4am)
Something was going on that caused those calls to be made

Some rain for the parade, and a few questions:
>Has no one here experienced DROPPED CALLS? Maybe Kaylee tried calling the boyfriend, call dropped repeatedly, tried roommate’s phone hoping for a better connection.
>It is curious that they were making calls in the middle of the night, but college kids do weird things. Maybe they knew the boyfriend was awake. Maybe he had asked to be called when they got home.
>If police have the phone numbers, I bet they are getting ping data on location of the recipients’ phones.
>The coroner did not specify the time of death as one minute after the last call — someone has made that up.
>If the girls rode home via UBER, the driver would seem like a prime witness or suspect. Has anything been said about the police identifying and questioning the driver?
>Why was “white hoodie guy” hanging around alone at the food truck in the middle of the night but not ordering anything?
>Why did he leave instantly once he noticed the two girls were leaving? Both these details seem extremely suspicious. He does appear to head off to the right while the girls turned left — but he could go anywhere after that.

Maybe Kaylee figures out that after 6 years Jack wasn’t going to marry her and decided to head to TX alone. Start date Jan 1. That’s coming up pretty quick considering a move of thousands of miles. They had to have decided something. I don’t have enough info or texts.

Probably so. Someone else speculated they might've started calling the boyfriend because they were afraid of something.

Young folks do not call, they text, that is unless they want to communicate something they do not want is writing.

My first thought about these calls to the same person was that both girls were frightened by what was going on in the house and were calling to get their friend to come to their aid.

That makes a LOT of sense. Frantic calls minutes apart. But why not call 911 when you can’t raise your friend?

News said there were two others in the house who supposedly heard nothing.

For four people to be killed with minimal noise, it would seem that there were more than just one killer involved. Just one probably couldn’t subdue all of them.

Sounds like her sister is on it. If true, five years from now there’ll be a made-for-TV movie about her.
