(LifeSiteNews) – In perhaps the greatest defeat conservatives have ever suffered at the hands of Republican Party, the Senate today advanced Democrats’ bill to enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law in a vote of 62 to 37.
Twelve Republican senators joined with all Democrats to pass the bill, the “Respect for Marriage Act,” including: Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.
Democrats needed the support of 10 Republicans to clear the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold.
Today’s vote came despite the objections of many of the most prominent conservative groups in the U.S., including the Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, thousands of Christian churches and institutions, and the overwhelming majority of Republican voters who oppose federal legislation to codify homosexual “marriage.”
The Respect of Marriage Act makes same-sex “marriage” the law of the land, ensuring that all 50 states must recognize such unions, regardless of state laws, in the event the Supreme Court overturns its 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, which mandates legal recognition of same-sex “marriage” nationwide.

I was going to post on this this morning, but I didn’t want to look at Tammy Baldwin’s (D, WI) ugly mug! She’s been in the Senate FOR-ever, and this, THIS is her very first piece of legislature! Aarrgghhh!
She’s the one that effed up and covered up the opioid crisis at our Wisconsin VA Hospitals!
She was FOISTED upon us via outside money, and we, and all of you, have been stuck with her ever since.
What about States Rights? Someone needs to appeal this the moment slimy Brandon signs it!
*SPIT*
Can't force spouses to testify against each other in court.
Since they can have joint assets, there's no death tax if one of them passes.
Employers, especially government, will carry them all on the insurance policy of the one that's working.
The State needs to get out of marriage completely. Marriage has been an aberration since the State joined as an unwelcome third party.
And WHY is this The Federal government’s business??/
I”ve quit several churches because they wanted to preach unicorns and sunshine and refused to engage the cultural evil before their eyes. One was a mega-church with a new young pastor who all but gave credence to the BLM narrative.
About 1/4 of the GOP is crypto-leftists, so this is absolutely no surprise. God and history will judge them for what they’ve done.
And the attacks against Christianity to ramp up.
I think they expect to be saved by a USSC decision.
The Usual Suspects:
Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.
That !@#$%^ing Joni Ernst! Ashamed to say I sent her campaign money. (I knew her through the ARNG.)
I want to marry both my dogs. Can I do that?
“It is the illegitimate result of an illegitimate election(s) on 2020. Georgia was stolen.”
After the 2020 election how many Republican members in Congress (House or Senate) spoke out about election integrity or did anything to ensure the 2022 election would be fair and honest? The truth is, election integrity has never been a priority for the Republican party.
And that’s why we primaried so many this time and will be from here on
out. You don’t get Conservatism, find other work.
Not much of a mormon Mitt is eh?
Once you’ve been in office a decade you’re headed crypto-leftist. Actually you’re just headed to feather your own nest, it just looks crypto-leftist!
Yes. Aways beware a law which pretends to grant you what you already have as a default natural right. The drafters of such laws have something very nefarious in mind.
Conservatives overall might disapprove, but overall a great many have contributed so much to the worldly powers behind it, and without the financial and social contributions of conservatives, no doubt we’d be nowhere near where we are today. Supporting the entertainment industry, for one. They’ll have to recognize that when they sit down with the Eternal Revenue Service to go over their books.
Republicans? I see no Republicans on this list.
Sodom ping
I go to a church simply for the sake of my daughter. She volunteers there and has lots of friends. It is not my style of Church and the pastor never stop his refrain of how a Christians needs to worship with their “Talents, Time and Money”. I get it that Churches need money to function but his constant refrain every week on it seems somehow nauseating.
Next on the slate....polygamy, necrophilia and let’s not forget the animals that are so loved.😉...
