(LifeSiteNews) – In perhaps the greatest defeat conservatives have ever suffered at the hands of Republican Party, the Senate today advanced Democrats’ bill to enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law in a vote of 62 to 37.
Twelve Republican senators joined with all Democrats to pass the bill, the “Respect for Marriage Act,” including: Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.
Democrats needed the support of 10 Republicans to clear the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold.
Today’s vote came despite the objections of many of the most prominent conservative groups in the U.S., including the Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, thousands of Christian churches and institutions, and the overwhelming majority of Republican voters who oppose federal legislation to codify homosexual “marriage.”
The Respect of Marriage Act makes same-sex “marriage” the law of the land, ensuring that all 50 states must recognize such unions, regardless of state laws, in the event the Supreme Court overturns its 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, which mandates legal recognition of same-sex “marriage” nationwide.

If they can’t tll the difference on this vital issue then anything related to gender you can expect they’ll support. All of these need to go!
That’s been said for 160 years. It hasn’t ever worked.
All world 🌎🌍 governments are jumping on board with the reprobate agendas
Just as prophesied
Luke 17:26-32
I’m foolish enough to hold out a little hope for this. The Senate added some amendments to the bill passed by the Democrats last summer. Some of these are purportedly religious protection amendments. If the House can’t stomach language that grants something reasonable to their arch enemy, they may reject the bill as amended.
Stranger miracles have happened.
Mostly the typical so-called lesser-of-two-evils-lie Rs. What a stupid concept.
Todd Young...just got reelected in IN. .........
That’s right. Even John McCain became the media’s hated enemy the moment he became the Party R nominee for President in 2008.
When he missed the accolades of being a D in R clothing, he went back to his old ways after being re-elected to the Senate in 2010.
McConnell and his sell-out RINOs will be overruled by the US Supreme Court. Marriage and abortion is a state issue. Congress has nothing to do with it.
That Manchin voted for this perversion means one thing. He has no intention of running for re-election. No way in 40 hells he can fool folks in WV he’s a conservative. He’s never been a conservative and this BS proves it.
Marriage control is at no point in the constitution granted as a power of the federal government.
Therefore, this is an unconstitutional law encroaching on a state power.
I hope it gets struck down on that basis.
I don’t kid myself. Almost all states will then pass similar laws in their own states, but at least it will have been done constitutionally.
The people outside Lot’s door.

America is done. Put a fork in it.
That’s what John MacArthur says based on Romans 1, that God has “given us over”. Judgement is in process.
We see the depraved mind (given over) every time Washington opens its mouth.
Actually, in a twisted way, I’m kinda okay with gay marriage.
I mean, why shouldn’t they be miserable, just like the rest of us?
This will now have to go to the House, yes? Can we stop it there, either by vote or by keeping it from coming to the floor? I don’t know.
I guess that settles it then. The Backstreet Boys can now marry.
I respectfully disagree. The churches that are into abortion and buggery are losing memberships like crazy, while membership is growing in churches that push being saved by grace but living it like we mean it.
Try living in liberalland sometime. Where all the churches - MAINLINE, again - put up their rainbow and BLM banners, and advertise their “reaching out” days which is cover for “we support BLM and totally sympathize with your oppressed plight so rioting is OK; nevermind buggery”.
They are HUGE on libel and slander (i.e., false witness) pushed by all these liberals. They are apostate.
