The US 5th Fleet intercepted the vessel — and its four Yemeni crewmembers — crossing international waters in the Gulf of Oman on November 8, and a search of the ship led to the discovery of over 70 tons of ....

Tow it to sea with the crew lashed to the deck. Then use it for target practice.

Iran is next on the List.

OTOH, it’s totally legit for the U.S. to sell explosives to Saudi Arabia to drop on Yemeni civilians.
Got it.

“ crossing international waters”
So the US Navy has the authority to stop anyone, anytime in international waters?

When it’s a legally sanctioned arms deal, yes. What, are you cheerleading for Iran these days, too?

I get it. Anything the USA does is “legally sanctioned.”
By ourselves, on our say-so.
Sort of like Katie Hobbs running her own election, “finding” ballots, and declaring herself winner.
Got it.
I’m not cheerleading for Iran, I’m just pointing out the obvious discrepancy of the USA “legally” selling billions in explosives to Saudi to fire at Yemen in that civil war, while at the same time stopping Iranian ships trying to do similar for their faction in that civil war.
“It’s good to be king.”
While it lasts.

This is why Russia, the Caspian Stans, Iran and India are setting up this alternate trade route.
It's much shorter, it's much cheaper, and it avoids foreign naval interference en-route.

Yep, like it or not, the US is a bully country. We have stuck our noses in more places where it was none of our business than you can count.

Interesting. The INSTC makes sense if all the players get along.

I doubt it is cheaper since you can ship 10,000 tons of material on one ship and less than 40 tons by truck.

Dumb question, but what legal authority do they use to board some other country’s ship in international waters?
Rule 303?
Or is there some sort of agreement somewhere?
