Former President Donald Trump criticized Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida Thursday in a statement posted on Truth Social, calling him an “average” governor who was “politically dead” and in “desperate shape” before Trump endorsed him in 2017.
“Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win,” Trump said in the statement. DeSantis defeated Adam Putman, the Republican Agriculture Commissioner, in the 2018 Republican primary for governor by 20%, according to Ballotpedia.

If Trump announces his candidacy next week as expected, gird your loins. It’s going to be like this for the next two years. Expect to be berated and marginalized for supporting a man who regularly extols (and represents) the virtues of American liberty, on a forum (supposedly) dedicated to human freedom. The irony is staggering. It will be just like the Covid wars.

If we could flip a switch to do it, many of us would give anything to be back in the presidency of Donald Trump.
As good a governor as DeSantis is, he’s still a politician. Trump, while he maneuvers in politics, isn’t a politician. Trump is Trump, and we take him with his quirks and flaws. I hope he never changes. The man had genuine gravitas on the world stage, and presided over a strong, healthy economy.

I live in Florida and every day there is a new hit piece. Everything from stopping women from receiving necessary health care to being a book burner preventing kids from sex education. He also is transphobic. He is killing the environment and hates immigrants. The media here is working hard to spread lies and half-truths about him.
