How Gov. Gavin Newsom survived a recall election and then sailed through to victory in Tuesday’s midterm elections is a whole other issue to be discussed.
Right now, Americans need to worry about what the passing of Proposition 1 means for unborn babies’ lives in California.
Prop 1., would allow women to receive an abortion up until the time of birth, or when the baby is viable, meaning there are no limitations for when an unborn baby’s life could be cut off.
“We have governors that won their re-elections tonight in other states that are banning books, that are banning speech, that is banning abortion,” Newsom said following his victory, adding “And here we are in California moving in a completely different direction… that’s a deep point of pride.”
State lawmakers introduced the measure following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, stating that California “shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom in their most intimate decisions, which includes their fundamental right to choose to have an abortion and their fundamental right to choose or refuse contraceptives.”
Additionally, Vermont and Michigan also approved the resolution following Tuesday’s election results.
In Michigan the measure would invalidate previous laws that forbid the prosecution of anyone for seeking, getting, or performing an abortion.
Pro-lifers slammed the passing of the measure as “extreme,” calling it a threat to life.
And despite “losing control of their own bodies”
they have no problem apparently losing control of their own bodies with the clot shots, right?
Sorry she and you had to go through that, but remember, it is only an abortion if it kills a LIVE baby. Removal of an already deceased child is another matter.
You might want to consider how it applies to the present discussion regarding the bloody slaughter of the unborn as a matter of national policy.
As I've frequently said in these pages, compromising with bad policy is like adding some sewage to your drinking water.
That article is incorrect, prop 1 says nothing about allowing abortion up until birth, it simply asks if abortion in general stays legal or not
Heh. I know the difference, it’s just really baffling to me that we were being pestered by random twits begging us to “reconsider” the “abortion” we weren’t having.
Again, I can’t speak for how things are in the USA (other than seeing very weird stuff when I was out there, like a pro-life center next door to an abortion clinic). Over here, we just had our regular doctor’s surgery and a regular hospital. Obs and gynae, antenatal care, emergency treatment, abortions AND D&C procedures (whether as a diagnostic or as a response to fetal mortality) are performed at the same hospital.
So over here, we do very occasionally get weirdos approaching women who’ve either miscarried or need a D&C and just acting as if they’re walk-ins wanting an elective abortion. And that’s exactly what happened to my wife. She went in for a routine scan, they picked up that our baby had died, we were a bit shell-shocked, and on the way out some utterly well-intentioned ass-hat asked what was wrong, we weren’t exactly going to go into graphic detail... and the next thing we know we were getting an admittedly sympathetic talk about Abortion Is Bad.
Which was roger irrelevant. We’re anti-abortion, and I’m adopted (not that the woman would’ve known that). We weren’t going in for an abortion. She just assumed that the perfect reason to tell us about carrying a baby to term and then maybe considering adoption would be that we might possibly be contemplating an abortion of an already dead fetus.
Maybe American pro-lifers aren’t as looney tunes as our British ones and they wouldn’t be so crass or stupid.
RE: prop 1 says nothing about allowing abortion up until birth, it simply asks if abortion in general stays legal or not
Ok, Proposition 1 amended the Constitution of California to explicitly grant the right to an abortion and contraceptives.
Abortion was already LEGAL in California. The DOBBS decision of the SCOTUS never affected states like California.
This proposition essentially makes it a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT in the state.
Now, it does not say up to what point in a pregnancy an abortion is legal. But WHAT IF a partial birth abortion was performed in California? Would it be legal?
I believe the answer to the question is “Yes”. So, in effect, what the article states is right.
I will be pleasantly surprised if I were proven wrong.
“At this rate, it is quite likely it won’t.
I’m sorry to say.“
What’s there to be sorry about? I do not see any reason to lament God’s judgment upon evil of this magnitude. I understand the misery that everyone experiences due to that, however, my first loyalty and that which sustains me is Jesus Christ.
If my countrymen make God their enemy, then I cannot be their ally.
I’m sorry that this nation that was given so much has turned to godless rap, godless Hollywood, abortion, homosexuality and pursuit of stupidity like ‘climate justice’ as their agendas.
It’s a definite sign of the times and as you said, we cannot join them in their efforts.
Look up!
✝️🙏🛐
Exactly.
It’s no longer murder, it’s a retroactive abortion; therefore my client is not guilty, your honor.
