A measure to enshrine abortion as a “fundamental right” in the state constitution of Michigan has been projected to become law following Tuesday’s vote.

The state ballot initiative Proposal 3, which would establish a “fundamental right to reproductive freedom,” including access to abortion, has been projected to pass by the Associated Press, with 56 per cent of voters backing the move to amend the state constitution compared to 44 per cent against as 78 per cent of votes were counted.

I saw this all over twitter yesterday. People were saying the following, I would rather vote for abortion then worry about my grocery bill. I was eye opening.

Yep. Heard the exit polling said abortion was a more important that inflation and the economy. I have no words (except, close you darn legs ladies).

I'm in Michigan, I am not surprised in the least. The Dems were pretty down in the dumps until the Dobbs decision and then everything changed.

As much as I despise abortion I’d trade it for securing the border. But that ain’t gonna happen. The Rats want it all their way. It’s obvious that voting ain’t gonna change things. Basically the same situation that our founding Fathers were up against.

So if it’s OK to kill babies, are old, useless folks next? Remember as Obama said, “Elections have consequences”.

I’ve pointed out on other threads...overturning Roe gave the beast life. They had no platform. Whitler had murdered retirees in nursing homes (COVID). She didn’t fulfill any past campaign promises (roads, etc.).

Roe changed everything, all we saw were political ads about “right to choose being common sense”. Also understand, kids can now get puberty blockers to “transition” WITHOUT parental consent OR being informed - into the STATE CONSTITUTION no less.

We are now officially in madness. As much as we were happy when Roe was overturned, this is exactly what I feared - I thought the timing was curious. It breathed life into a dead beast.

All overturning Roe did was make it a State issue, it won’t stop one abortion from happening, but the Rats got their issue out of it. It’s as if somebody told the Supreme Court when to do it.

We are discovering how popular abortion is with actual voters, and it's very popular, however much some try to deny it.

It's popular among enough voters to swing dead heat elections.

Even a lot of conservatives roll their eyes when the topic turns to abortion. Their thinking is "damn right I want those welfare mothers to get an abortion instead of cranking out more kids I have to support with my tax dollars."

Probably McConnell

Sadly, there was no reason the Supreme had to do this now, they could just said Mississippi law was OK and let it be.
Then there would surely be more cases and wait until 2025 when we had big majorities and then return it to the states.

The amendment makes no distinction of “woman” in this new fundamental right. I expect quickly challenges will be made to afford men their equal application of this new constitutional right. By declaring their intent to NOT become a father, they would exercise their new right by promising to avoid contact with the child, they will absolve their parental financial responsibilities in perpetuity.

Then again, in 2025 the Supreme Court could have some different members, and not have a majority who would overturn Roe vs. Wade.
