They unfortunately elected a Dem Governor.
Lived there for 3 years in the early 80s.... Been back several times and still corrupt as hell and the locals still get some reparations from WWII.
Used to be a beautiful island. Last time I was there it was a shxthole.

My Dad spent a year or so touring the South Pacific with his buddy Doug. First on New Guinea and then on the island of Luzon(”I have returned”).
His vacation on Luzon ended when he lost his upper teeth to a argument with the butt end of a rifle, a piece of metal penetrated his helmet and another piece of metal penetrated his lower abdomen. This got him a nice cruise on a ship back to the USA and a stay in a hospital for six weeks.
