The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, on Saturday issued an open letter to Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, urging him to "ensure human rights are central to the management of Twitter".
"Twitter is part of a global revolution that has transformed how we communicate," Türk said in the letter quoted by Reuters. "But I write with concern and apprehension about our digital public square and Twitter's role in it."
"Like all companies, Twitter needs to understand the harms associated with its platform and take steps to address them," he added. "Respect for our shared human rights should set the guardrails for the platform's use and evolution."
"In short, I urge you to ensure human rights are central to the management of Twitter under your leadership," ...

No. Because the prior management did what the UN really wants: suppress communications from people trying to shake off oppressive regimes. They are worried Elon won't play ball in that way.
GENEVA, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The U.N. rights council on Thursday voted down a Western-led motion to hold a debate about alleged human rights abuses by China against Uyghurs and other Muslims in Xinjiang in a victory for Beijing as it seeks to avoid further scrutiny.
Its buffoonish.
Free speech is a fundamental human right.
Excellent description.
I’d add...as a publicly-traded stock...they paid zero dividends (the whole period since day one of operation). A number of companies are in the zero-dividend situation, but you expect growth on the yearly stock price.
Selling advertising slots? Based on bots in the mix? Having certain guests with significant followers who probably didn’t exist? Advertising was set to a fairly bogus scheme.
What is UN human rights position with Russia invading Ukraine? Crickets,
Musk to UN: F! U!
The UN lecturing someone about human rights is….. ironic, at the very least.
👍That works also.
A cursory quick search doesn’t turn up anything about Turk’s parentage. Turk probably has aspirations to be U.N leader one day, like his fellow Austrian Jew hater, Waldheim.
Tiurk’s main task will be furthering the mohommedan trojan horse in the West
In a functioning society, they would have been prosecuted for fraud by charging for advertising based on fake accounts
Musk should just say, “twitter is secure”. After all biden keeps telling us “the border is secure” and we ALL know it isn’t. Musk should say the same thing. Evidentially it doesn’t matter if you DO it just that you MAKE THE CLAIM that it is.
The UN has become a den of parasites, praising the corrupt and tearing down those who make real progress for humanity.
Human rights like free speech? Probably not what he means.
Even better....your Fortune-500 companies that advertised at hefty rates....paid way over the norm for what they ‘consumed’. You could probably argue that of every dollar that VW poured into fake numbers/rates....probably 25 cents were flushed down a toilet with no pay-back. If the executive for VW’s advertising imagined this was going on and did nothing....he probably should be fired.
Multiply that by 10,000 companies.
IOW be nice to people who agree with us
UN is waaaaaay out of line.
Musk and the rest of the world to the UN
UP YOURS!
