Former president Donald Trump boasted on Saturday that he’s polling way above “Ron DeSanctimonious” for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination, in an early taste of the rivalry that’s widely expected to develop after next week’s midterms.
Trump at 71, Ron DeSanctimonious at 10 percent, Mike Pence at 7 percent . . . Oh, Mike’s doing better than I thought,” Trump told a crowd of supporters at a rally in Latrobe, Pa., for Republican Senate and gubernatorial candidates Dr. Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano.
The fact that Trump assigned the governor of Florida a derogatory nickname is a telltale sign that he considers him a legitimate competitor for 2024, and that he is indeed gearing up to run. Governor Ron DeSantis has long been regarded a GOP rising star and strong contender for president, one who could potentially have the conservative-populist credibility to take on Trump in a primary.
While presiding over the Sunshine State, DeSantis has demonstrated a willingness to apply government power to achieve conservative policy goals — incorporating some of Trump’s confrontational approach. For example, he enacted a mask-mandate ban for K-12 public schools and a prohibition on teaching gender identity and sexual orientation to elementary-aged children. Both laws received widespread support among residents. The hope of some Republicans who favor DeSantis over Trump is that he can pursue a similar agenda without the political baggage of the former president.

Or any plot with him and ChinaOwned McConnell and loser Passive Aggressive LeaderLESS Kevin McCarthy. I think it's fake. My feelings aren't hurt but I just don't believe DeSantis would hook up with those two RINOs and traitor to American Patriotism Paul Ryan--who of course is pretty much running Fox News.

It does give Desantis something to push back against. It’s not a bad strategy. I didn’t think Desantis was a ‘never trumper’ that i can detect. This is Desantis opportunity to play the high road. I wouldnt be surprised if the two scripted it this way to provide space between them.

With another term as Gov under his belt, he’d be the perfect GOP candidate for 2028.
He needs to put a hard stop to speculation that he is going to challenge Trump in 2024.

Trump is funny and an equal opportunity skewered. People think he only trolled the left but he trolls the right to. This is what the Left never understood. It is just his “schtick”. Trump being Trump and I still like him bigly.
I miss Trump. Easily the best president since Reagan.
I remember when Trump called Cruz lying Ted and Rubio little Marco. That’s the way he rolls. Last night Trump gave nothing but praise to Cruz and today he is having a rally for Rubio. I think folks are making too much out of this. The left will try to make mincemeat out of any Republican candidate as they did Trump. So far Trump has survived them…can any other candidate do the same. The press and libs were all over DeSantis for the Martha’s Vineyard event. They are just licking their chops to try to destroy someone else because Trumps not budging to their bs.
Trump should stop crudely attacking other GOPers. His insulting nicknames and personal attacks are never launched against Dems, but only against GOPers he considers rivals, even if they’re not running against him for the same office.
In the past, this cost him a lot of GOP support when he needed it most, and also cost the GOP some state offices that we really needed.
I remember when he attacked Gov Kemp of Georgia because Kemp refused to go along with the total shutdown policies supported by Trump and tried to keep his state as open as possible. Kemp got reelected, but Trump’s attacks managed to make sure that the GOP lost down ticket.
Trump acts like a foolish junior high adolescent sometimes.

BINGO! The globalists and war pigs can sneak some p.o.s. like Jeb, Liz Cheney, Romney, etc. past DeSantis and Trump if they split the America First vote. I hope Florida’s governor doesn’t let media and Rino flattery juice him into running for President before 2028.
We need to pick ONE America First candidate and stand rock solid behind that person in the 2024 primaries!
I will NEVER vote for Ron Desanctimonious in a Republican primary. NEVER.
The fact that none of us is sure that DeSanctimonious is clearly not running means he is going to FOOLISHLY go up aganst Trump. I wish him all the worse.
