Federal authorities on Monday filed attempting kidnapping and assault charges against the alleged home invader accused of striking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband with a hammer.
After he was taken into custody, DePape allegedly said he planned to "hold Nancy hostage and talk to her," according to the charging papers. "If Nancy were to tell 'the truth,' he would let her go, and if she 'lied' he was going to break 'her kneecaps'," the charging papers said.
The new charges come as Republicans and others on the right amplified misinformation and outright falsehoods about last week's violent assault on Paul Pelosi.
The innuendo about the attack that billionaire Elon Musk and right-wing personalities spread on social media this past weekend showed no signs of abating Monday as elected officials and other conservatives perpetuated wild theories.

You can easily find photos of the house online. It is in Pacific Heights. It is bordered by sidewalks. The specific address cannot be hard to find.
How did he get there? By cab, Uber, Lyft, a friend?
That was my main question, when I wrongly assumed that this mess occurred at Pelosi's Napa estate. Anyone in San Francisco can walk to the Pacific Heights house, though it might not be an easy walk due to the adjacent hills. If they drive, they are very unlikely to find open parking spaces anywhere near the house. You can't just drive there and park, unless you have access to the house's garage.
The suspect also allegedly told investigators that he intended to break Nancy Pelosi’s kneecaps if she didn’t tell him the “truth” about “lies told by the Democratic Party” and said she would have to be wheeled into Congress, therefore showing other members of Congress that there are “consequences to actions,” according to the criminal complaint.

DePape allegedly espouses conspiracy theories about COVID-19 vaccines, 2020 false election theories, frustration with the Jan. 6 congressional hearings and anger over the conviction of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin for the killing of George Floyd
They are throwing everything at him so that in the end they will cut a deal with him if he promises not to tell the real story.
Trial? The whole purpose of the DOJ takeover of a local case is to bury the story.

When I was 30 I stayed for a couple of weeks in a friend's small apartment in Pacific Heights while he was in LA. Every day I jogged down to the Marina, ran around it, and tried to jog back, but mostly I walked back. I was in decent shape, but I really felt those hills.
