Federal authorities on Monday filed attempting kidnapping and assault charges against the alleged home invader accused of striking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband with a hammer.
After he was taken into custody, DePape allegedly said he planned to "hold Nancy hostage and talk to her," according to the charging papers. "If Nancy were to tell 'the truth,' he would let her go, and if she 'lied' he was going to break 'her kneecaps'," the charging papers said.
The new charges come as Republicans and others on the right amplified misinformation and outright falsehoods about last week's violent assault on Paul Pelosi.
The innuendo about the attack that billionaire Elon Musk and right-wing personalities spread on social media this past weekend showed no signs of abating Monday as elected officials and other conservatives perpetuated wild theories.

The innuendos and conspiracy theories came about because the initial information didn’t make sense. Above all, it seemed unlikely that a homeless man could enter the home of the fourth most powerful politician in the country without encountering any resistance from security personnel.

If this guy had done this to anyone else, a liberal DA would of charged him with simple assault and let him back onto the street to do it again by now!
The media never showed such interest in the details of the Scalise shooting, the Waukesha massacre, or the attempted assassination of Kavanaugh, nor did they try to link any of those crimes to the dangerous effects of leftist rhetoric.
Not a single lamestream network has played the video of Maxine Waters calling for violence against Republican elected officials, not one.
The WaPo ignores the fact that Musk got his information from a story in the Santa Monica newspaper.
Still, no hint whatsoever that the suspect is or may be mentally ill or whether he is undergoing a psychiatric examination.
