At this point in the attack, I would say the verbal warning was going away above and beyond what would be expected of a reasonable person to avoid shooting.
If somebody is pulling me out of my car to beat me some more, I would have pretty much abandoned efforts to verbally de-escalate the situation. At that point, my trigger finger is doing all my talking.

But no reports about the ass kicking that well preceded the shooting?

The resultant pearl-clutching and "the DA is promoting vigilantism" whining from the media was absurd. The youth's Mom got airtime, too.... complaining to the media that the homeowner didn't need to shoot her son (the homeowner brought his shotgun to investigate the noise in his shed, and during a scuffle basically shredded one of the youth's legs with a few shots, and the teen bled out). The DA kept his job and I believe was re-elected.
It's good to see that some things in Bucks County remain sunny.

Surveillance footage shows Panebianco, Farrell and Bowman attacking Hughes, punching him in the head and face even after he falls to the ground, authorities said. Hughes told police he’d tried climbing in his car to flee but was pulled back out by one of the attackers. Eventually, he was able to grab his gun from inside the car, authorities said.
“He warned the assailants that he had a weapon and told them to stop,” but “the men continued the attack, and Hughes opened fire, killing two of his assailants and injuring a third man,” prosecutors wrote.
I’ve met Mr Weintraub several years ago, obviously under not such good circumstances. He and his team are excellent and thorough, they were compassionate and straight talking. I, and those involved those years ago, have nothing but respect for this DA and his team. We were happy to hear he got re-elected. After reading the article, I believe Mr Weintraub came to the correct conclusion.
