David Depape is the suspect accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with a hammer in the couple’s home on October 28, leaving Paul with serious blunt-force trauma.
Police confirmed the suspect’s name. Depape is a Berkeley, California, resident. What are Depape’s politics and was he on social media? On a blog and website, he was fixated on censorship and made antisemitic comments. In one post, he ranted about government attempts to control information, calling for the arrest of journalists from prominent news organizations. He also posted COVID and election conspiracy theories online. Online records give Depape’s age as 42.
After receiving a call and being dispatched on an “A-priority wellbeing check” in the early morning hours of October 28, 2022, San Francisco police officers encountered an “adult male and [Nancy] Pelosi’s husband, Paul” in the Pelosi home, Chief Bill Scott said in a news conference. “Our officers observed Mr. Pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer. The suspect pulled the Hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it. Our officers immediately tackled the suspect and disarmed him and took him into custody, requested emergency backup and rendered medical aid.”

Pelosi managed to dial 911 without it being seen and left the line open. A welfare check was ordered due to that call. Both men were in their underwear. When police entered both men had their hands on the hammer, then the perp pulled it away and struck. But the number of wounds described indicates the attack began before the cops came in.
Sounds like some gay fun went bad.

The description of DePape is consistent with being just another Bay Area psycho. His nuttiness is broad enough to overlap with a large array of theories, conspiracy and otherwise. I doesn’t mean that he was a participant in anything other than his own personal fantasy world.

I saw it while walking between the Art Museum & my hotel on a nice sunny afternoon. A black guy was pantsed by a couple of goons, maybe so they could steal what was in his pockets or settle debts. The black guy was pretty distraught and the perps were pretty cold & bold doing that in broad daylight. I doubt I'll ever go to SF again. What a hell-scape.

The cynic in me made me think first that Nancy paid this guy to do this so that the Dems could campaign for the next two weeks against the evil Republicans who are bringing violence into politics. Desperate? Yes. Unlikely? Yes. Beyond the realm of possibility? Given her dad’s mob connections, no.
