Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday condemned the attack on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) husband at the couple’s San Francisco home.
“This is an outrage and our hearts are with the entire Pelosi family. We pray Paul will make a full recovery,” Pence tweeted. “There can be no tolerance for violence against public officials or their families. This man should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Police said David Depape violently assaulted Paul Pelosi around 2:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities arrived at the home for a “priority well-being check” and found the two men tussling over a hammer. Depape then grabbed control of the hammer and used it to attack Pelosi.
Before the assault occurred, the man confronted Pelosi, 82, and shouted, “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?” according to a source briefing on the attack.

The Pelosi's are angry she is about to lose the House and her position of Speaker of the House.. I can see them drinking and beating on each other due to this pending disaster.

His tone-deaf denunciation is probably what keeps him out of that club - for now.

There are all manner of security systems. Pelosi may not have had time to reach his phone, but had a button to push to alert authorities that something was up. At 82, it could easily have been a fall... or a motion detector by the broken glass set off a call ... or whatever.
I think the description of the perp wearing only underwear may well be a mistake, later retracted.

Also, who owned the hammer? Was Paul actually hit with the hammer? If so, did that happen before or after the cops showed up?
