On Elon Musk’s first day in control of Twitter , the company has started laying off employees, including data engineers, self-identified former employees told CNBC.
A person who walked out of Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters and identified themselves as a Twitter data engineer said they were just laid off by their director in-person.

Actually is is a VERY BAD time to be looking for a job in tech they are ALL laying off including Amazon!!!
There’s a funny story in a book about Silicon Valley where the people getting canned start a tailgate party in the parking lot. An hour or so later, here comes the boss, carrying his cardboard box. What the hell, he joins the party. Another hour or so later, they see HIS boss walking into the parking lot...
That produced a big cheer, and he was NOT invited to join the party because at last the cuts were affecting the level in the company that was actually responsible for the cuts having to be made.
Yes, the ones banning free speech. Not single tear in my eyes.
I had some empathy for what would be coming to them until they issued their self righteous list of demands that Musk pucker up, kiss their butts, and stay out of their way while they do what they do. All they did was confirm that they are despicable entitled people who would most likely buy tickets to watch the firing squads if the lefties were able to get them going (which they definitely would like).
Let me tell you how the big boys do it on Wall Street. The have security escort you out and your “box” is packed by HR or a co-worker and sent to your home later. No taking “personal belongings”, sending goodbye emails, or even speaking to your co-workers. You are fully de-platformed.
Is this a tongue and cheek joke as Twitter shut everyone else up for years?
Or do you really think he shouldn’t be allowed to tell people he was laid off?
Maybe they should try not engineering data.
That is actually dressed up for the tech industry.
I had a boss tell me flat out...
I didn’t hire you for your boyish good looks, or your GQ style of dress... I hired you for your mind..
When it stops working, so do you.
So long, Sanjya!
See Ya, Sulaiman!
Sayonara, Siri!
OK. I’m done. :)
At certain levels/positions even big companies do the same thing. And then they do a forensic audit of your computer activity to make sure you hadn’t been making “back-up” copies or sending large zip files to yourself at home. I know of one case for my former Fortune 100 employer pursued criminal charges against a laid-off employee who had been sending copies of proprietary information using an encrypted remailer in anticipation of being laid-off.
Please show videos of the delicate snowflakes whimpering as they are ushered out of their offices with their latte mugs and rainbow flags.
“That’s what I wondered. Data is data. It doesn’t need to be engineered. Data can be collected, catalogued, massaged, manipulated, interpreted etc. But if you engineer it... well, then it’s fake.”
Bingo... They engineered internal fake accounts.
AMF!!!!
The best part is, that hippy indian dude(?) is probably tied to a very expensive lease on a SF apartment. Hopefully, he(?) thought twitter would last forever so he blew all his money on whatever and now can’t pay rent.
That would be delicious..
Actually, the job title of Data Engineer is a highly skilled and sought-after job in the IT World.
You’re correct data is data, but you don’t just collect it and throw it onto a disk drive for retrieval later.
Data Engineering is the process of organizing and storing data a manner that allows it to be retrieved in an efficient manner, it’s actually a lot more complicated than you might imagine considering the various data base systems out there, Oracle, etc...
This is making fun of him for what Twitter has done for years.
Yes, I mentioned the high level activity, much more goes on...
