Not being familiar with the painting, I thought they had actually attacked a girl with a pearl earring, which wouldn’t surprise me.
I like what happened to them at the Volkswagen headquarters. They glued themselves to the floor. The VW folks shut off the lights and heat and went home, leaving them stuck without food or a way to go potty.

This all ends the moment some security guard decides to go into business for himself, bodyslams one of the protesters and steps on his or her pencil neck until the police arrive. Not really because of the violence, but because the whole movement will be shown as easily thwarted clowns. There is nothing that ruins the spirit of a public stunt quite like a bigger stunt sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
I don’t really even care about art, a lot of that stuff is just state sanctioned money laundering, but some thick-necked Croatian guy stomping on a hippy’s neck... that I would pay to see.

If they were going after gas stations, refineries and wells, I would ‘get it’ even though I’d still want them executed, because those are legitimate targets in a war.... But attacking paintings because someone scooped up a few pints of oil oozing up naturally 400 years ago and mixing some pigments with it is just insanity.
There’s some deep (and dangerous) symbolism here - they are attacking some of the most treasured and respected pieces of western civilization.
Pour nasty-smelling chemicals on them.
Dust them with itching powder.
Tattoo “LOSER” on their foreheads.
Shave their heads with a rusty razor.
Strip them naked.
Do not feed them, water them, or give them any container in which to relieve themselves.

The event was in Holland and the perps are Belgian; however, the T-shirts show words in English. I guess they are after the English and American media.
Take them outside and glue them to the building from head to toe. Just leave them there and call it performance art in the nude.
