ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — For the second time in about a month, a lawsuit challenging Florida’s so-called “don’t say gay” legislation restricting teaching on gender identity and sexual orientation in schools has been dismissed by a federal judge.

U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger in Orlando on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit brought by LGBTQ students, parents and their families — as well as several civil rights groups — and refused their request for a preliminary injunction to stop the law from being implemented. The judge gave the plaintiffs until Nov. 3 to file an amended lawsuit if they desired.

The lawsuit in Orlando named as defendants several Florida school boards charged with implementing the law, which bans lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade as well as material that is not deemed age-appropriate. The lawsuit claimed the law had violated the plaintiffs’ constitutional rights by chilling their ability to talk about their LGBTQ families in school settings. The judge disagreed.

Good. All the law does is prohibit the teaching of these materials to children 3rd grade and below. Remember, even “sex education” - which this loosely describes - until fairly recently only began in the 4th grade.

I don’t think schools should have been involved in this at all, beyond an explanation of the biology. But the gender and LGBTQ stuff doesn’t even have a biological basis and is entirely political.

It irritates me that the AP adopts opposition activist language when it comes to this law. That’s not journalism, it’s editorial. Using the phrase “so called” is no excuse, those are weasel words to avoid accountability.

I just thought of a great way to help these people show their agenda and their hypocrisy. I think it is a wonderful idea for Conservative teachers to start teaching kids about their political choices and why they are Republican or possibly Libertarian and why they are for the Constitution and how they should vote when they get to be 18. Oh and about Christianity. Now that would be something to watch the left go bananas! Of course they will scream “You can’t do that!” Why? If you can teach little kids your sexual preferences why can’t another teacher teach about the faith or political beliefs? Hey, I didn’t say it was a perfect idea, just an idea. LOL

Because that’s never happened in the history of public education or youth sports? Come on now.

Activists call it “don’t say gay” because if they called it “don’t say trans” no one would pay attention. This controversy exists because of the transgender movement and efforts to break down another pillar of society, the binary sexes: male and female.

Please stop equating transgenderism with homosexuality. The transgender activists coat tail on the lesbian and gay communities and neither community identifies with the transgender. There’s considerable resentment.

My life experiences are with “transgender” people who each have been horribly abused in life, feel alienated and unacceptable in the sex they were born to and gravitate to transitioning to “kill” the old weak them that was rejected, humiliated, ridiculed, objectified, fetishized and abused in hopes of finally belonging. Several of them, but not all, have come from the gay community but found the same patterns of abuse through bad relationships.

They need psychological healing, not sex reassignment surgery.

The law does not forbid the discussion of a student’s or even teacher’s family situation no matter the structure. It does prohibit a teacher from using such situations to form a lesson plan or otherwise teach on sexual orientation or gender. For example,

This is o.k., The teacher asks the class what they did over Thanksgiving. A student answers his two dads had the whole family over.
This is not o.k. The teacher tells the students that everyone is assigned a sex at birth and that can change.
