Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a member of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, reacted to the news that the committee formally issued a subpoena to former President Trump on Friday with a pithy tweet.

The Illinois congressman, one of just two Republicans on the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, has frequently criticized the former president.

Adam Kinzinger: I served on the January 6th Committee, bent over for the Democrats, took it in the ass, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt, and my district eliminated.
If I were Trump I’d show up and sit smiling pleasantly and answer ever question with either “I don’t know” or “I can’t remember”. I stare right at Dizzy Lizzy the whole time and never break eye contact.

President Trump said last week he wanted to appear before the hyenas ...as long as it was in Public and on TV.

No. He hasn’t. And that’s a sticking point because he has to be served for it to have any force. And it isn’t easy to serve a former president.
Clearly, he will not appear before the midterm election. It would be great if any appearance were to be delayed until on or after January 6, 2023. The committee may be disbanded or, better yet, reconstituted to be a majority of Trump supporters. Then they could properly investigate the roles of Pelosi, FBI, Antifa, etc. in the January 6 event.
