The head of Britain's electricity and gas systems' operator has told households to prepare for blackouts between 4pm and 7pm on weekdays during "really, really cold" days in January and February if gas imports are reduced.
John Pettigrew, the National Grid chief, said blackouts would have to be imposed during the "deepest darkest evenings" in January and February if electricity generators did not have enough gas to meet demand, especially if there is a period of cold weather.
Britain gets 40% of its electricity from gas-fired power stations while gas heats the vast majority of homes.
Although Britain does not import gas from Russian, it does import electricity and gas from European countries that rely on Russian gas.

This winter, Britain is going to mysteriously lose a lot of tree cover.
It sure does seem to me that ALL of this “Energy Shortage” business began at the same exact time that Brandon decided to kneecap our oil production. Is it just me? The USA...the worlds most productive supplier of oil cancels a major pipeline and cuts production in January 2001 and here the world is now with the highest gas/oil prices. And Brandon is draining our strategic oil reserves??? Somethings gotta give!

They need to restore fracking. UK has large Natural gas reserves they are sitting on.

Not true. Just over 12 thousand years ago we were in an ice age. The Great Lakes are a result of the thawing of that ice. The occasional earthquakes in OK and MO, etc, are the result of the ice receding from those regions.
Then came the mini ice age.
And absolutely NONE OF IT was from human activities.
NONE OF IT!!!!!!
So why aren’t they launching a crash program to build millions of windmills and solar farms? Come on, Euro greenie weenies...you know in your heart that’s the solution. Right? Just ignore what physics, science, engineering and technology all say...the solution is renewables!
