A UN official claimed Russia is using rape as its “military strategy” in Ukraine — providing soldiers with drugs to sexually assault civilians.
“When you hear women testify about Russian soldiers equipped with Viagra, it’s clearly a military strategy,” Pramila Patten, UN special representative on sexual violence in conflict, told the AFP.
Patten added that the UN has verified “more than a hundred cases” of rape or sexual assault since the invasion began in February. Victims have largely included girls and women, but boys and men have been raped, too.
In September, the head of the organization’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry into Ukraine wrote that Russian forces were committing war crimes against civilians, including rape, torture and unlawful confinement.
The commission head noted that victims of sexual and gender-based violence ranged from four to 82, and in some some cases, family members have been forced to watch the acts.
“Reported cases are only the tip of the iceberg,” Patten told the AFP, but added that it is difficult to maintain accurate statistics during an active violent conflict. “The numbers will never reflect reality, because sexual violence is a silent crime.”
Russia has denied war crime allegations.

I don’t doubt that there’s a lot of rape going on, but why do they need viagra?
Does viagra not take some minutes to work? So the Russian took a pill that the woman knows is viagra and when it took affect then raped her? And this happened to a lot?
It just seems like an odd story. Of course, the UN should be an expert at rape since they have a lot of experience. The story is more believable without the viagra.

Yes. I’ve been following some of the many reports of rape used as a weapon by the Russians since the beginning of the invasion. One of the reasons, stated by Russians, is to prevent Ukrainian women and men from raising children of non-Russian culture in the future. There’s also the purpose of terror and of dehumanizing Ukrainians, Russian style. Mothers and wives in Russia have even told their Russian soldiers to rape Ukrainian women. One Russian soldier raped a little girl a few months ago and proudly posted video of his offense to social media.
Russian soldiers have also been forcibly sodomizing boys and men, which evil deed exposes the real Russian apathy about homosexuality.
