An academic at a teacher training college has claimed efforts to improve vocabulary in schools are ‘racist, classist and ableist’.
Ian Cushing, lecturer in English and Education at Edge Hill University, believes tackling the ‘word gap’ – the difference between the language range of typical middle class and working class or disabled youngsters – has ‘colonial’ roots.

Fleming has a supporter in the Daily Mail comments, posting several times. She challenged someone to read his work, with providing a link. One finds his articles through the university page, and so I read one. It is in English and rather white he uses big white English words rooted in "colonial roots." If England is continued to be attacked as colonial, is parallel it should be recognized that the anti-slavery movement began in earnest in England. Additionally, the anti-colonial last decades have been one of Britain supporting others, not pillaging and raping and thieving. Fleming has published word salads at the PhD level with plenty of assertions that his research and analysis has "proven" something. It has not, says another PhD. Fleming's work is rather like the Daily Mail article characterizes it. This proves the academic Left of the Anglo zone shares its abiding racism across the Atlantic, Berkeley to Edge Hill. Leftist political claptrap dressed up as research.
