Moderate lawmaker: GOP faces 'a lot of pressure' to impeach Biden next year (Mace, SC)

Asked by Todd how she'd vote if impeachment articles against Biden were brought to the floor next year, Mace said her intention was to "do the right thing," look at the evidence, and vote constitutionally, before vowing to not take part in a GOP-led witch hunt against a Democratic president.

“I will not vote for impeachment of any president if I feel that due process has been stripped away for anyone, and I typically vote constitutionally regardless of who’s in power,” she said. “I want to do the right thing for the long term because this isn’t just about today, tomorrow, this year’s election. This is about the future of democracy. This is about protecting our Constitution.”

If the Republicans take both houses of Congress and don’t take up the issues they ran on, instead focusing on impeachment it will make the 2024 election much tougher.

IMO, establishing the MAGA platform as the Republican Party’s platform and minimizing the impact of the RINOs is much more important long term than impeaching Biden.

By my estimate, about 15% of all female politicians place America first. The rest are some shade of leftist/liberal. Male politicians are marginally better.

Does Biden deserve to be impeached, ABSOLUTELY, but I’m not in favor of doing this.

It’s a tough call. Yes, he deserves to be impeached, but be ready to say president Pelosi, since Harris will appoint her as Vice President and then maybe resign. A fate worse than death.

They lose what little credibility they’re holding on to.

Biden is a disaster. That video of him walking with the blind guy is horrible on every level. But, he’s just the figurehead. Impeaching him is nothing but a distraction.

Half the country knows that he doesn’t make any decisions, to the goal is to stop the folks that are pulling his puppet strings.

Even if the Republicans win the House and Senate, the dishonorable Biden will veto every good thing they “might” pass. A ell deserved impeachment might slow him down.

I remember a time when impeachment was a serious matter, not just a political chip to be played as retribution out of vindictiveness.

Pelosi might face death before she’s appointed to anything. She’s old.

Agree. Tit for Tat, even though Biden has committed multiple impeachable offenses, is just a distraction from what needs to be done to stop the left and their agenda. Biden is the puppet.

That’s okay, you keep putting the MAGA agenda on Biden’s desk and let him veto it, but you get Democrats on record voting for things like border enforcement, expanded fossil fuels, additional cops, crime, etc....

If you don’t that and concentrate on impeachment, all you do is look like the Democrats in Trump’s last two years.

We missed on this RINO this time. We need to circle back and primary her again next time.

Impeaching Biden is the very first thing the Republican House must do. When he is acquitted in the Senate, impeaching him again is the 2nd thing the Republican House must do.

Tit for tat.

Yes, she is old, but I think it’s possible, that becoming president is an obsession with her. Who knows?

The ONLY way the Democrats will ever get the message is to retaliate in kind.

They honestly think Republicans don’t have the spine to fight as dirty as they do. They think the usual softies in the Republican party will cave the second they get in office. Up to this point they’ve been proven correct. The reason they hate Trump so much is he doesn’t cave. He fights back. They are terrified that Republicans are learning something from him.

Nothing will be solved because democrats will block everything they propose and Biden won’t sign anything they manage to pass. They should cut the budget but leave all of the “3rd rails” alone.

The right thing to do is immediately declare the Biden adminstration null and void and prosecute the parties who perpetrated the fraud, while placing the duly elected President Trump into office and allowing him to run in 2024.

“Does Biden deserve to be impeached, ABSOLUTELY, but I’m not in favor of doing this.”

I agree. A Democrat Senate, or small GOP majority Senate, will not vote to convict an impeached Biden. A number of Senators will not vote to convict and remove including Romney, Collins, Murkowski if she is there, Graham, and possibly McConnell. The Senate is a “club” and Biden was a long term member. Why spend the time on an impeachment going nowhere when there are more critical issues.

The House of Representatives has control of the federal purse. The best thing the GOP House can do is attack the budget and budgeting process. Go to zero base budgeting with no automatic inflation increases for departments. Slash programs. End the flow of taxpayer money being channelled to Democrat activist organizations. Reduce funding for headcount in bloated agencies. Shrink or terminate large pools of discretionary spending money. Return to passing budgets for individual departments instead of huge omnibus spending bills no one except staff members know what is inside until the bill is passed.

Submit the spending bills to the Senate and the President as individual department bills. Let him veto each one. Stand firm. When Biden cries that the National Park Service is going to have to shut down, state the obvious. There is a NPS specific bill on his desk that has sufficient funding to keep the national parks open. By vetoing the bill he has made the decision to close the park. If he picks up the bill and signs it the parks will stay open. His choice. Individual spending bills allow Congress to put the responsibility for government shutdowns on his shoulders. The big omnibus bills make the issue of accountability cloudy and allow the press to confuse the issue.

Impeaching Biden would be the height of idiocy, at least in terms of his actions to date. There is zero chance you'd get a conviction in the Senate. So, what you'd be talking about are PR hearings in the House that would end up taking up huge amounts of time and media attention, that ultimately would accomplish nothing.

It's the exact same argument we made against the Trump impeachments, neither of which helped Democrats politically even though the media was all on their side. They'd be - quite rightfully - spun as Republicans ignoring the problems facing the country right now in exchange for political theater.

It would hurt us politically and serve no useful purpose.

Never trust anyone of them POS’es that insert the determiner adjective “our” into a sentence. The phrase never means what they say it means.

Exactly, an impeachment of Biden will give useless RINOs like Nancy Mace the chance to wring here hands and consider the Constitution, and “to do the right thing”.

Biden is much more useful as roll of the perverted, bumbling corrupt fool he is playing. Let’s not make him a martyr.
