Hurricane Ian
NHC/NOAA ^ | 23 September 2022 | NHC/NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2022 2:32:24 AM PDT by NautiNurse

The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Bit of humor in such a terrible storm....

NBC2 reporter Kyla Galer put a condom on the microphone to protect it from the rain when she went live during Hurricane Ian, which was effective

I don’t watch the news networks for any information, period. Not just the weather. Everyone has a freaking agenda. From every side and every angle. I guess it’s human nature.

Well yeah, that too. It’s funny, I’ve become a fan of India Today, because I see them as being pretty much the most objective source of foreign news out there.

Awww! I wonder how the Marco island Marriott resort fared. Had a lovely trip there some 34 years ago.

“I suspect even the houses that are still standing have so much water damage, they’ll have to be torn down.”

I suspect that mold will be a big problem in some of these homes.

I wonder how many EV owners with buyer’s remorse left their cars to flood during Ian in order to collect the insurance money...

LOL! Okay, I shouldn't be laughing the morning after a major hurricane, but that was funny.

"I suspect that mold will be a big problem in some of these homes."

That was my brother-in-law's experience a few years ago after a 'minor' storm. Power was out for a few days and he was shocked at the damage from mold and algae.

Meteorology is fascinating.

When I grew up in Cleveland, we had a local weather guy, Meteorologist Dick Goddard. He was great. He would explain things quite well, and make sure that people had something of a clue of what the weather was fixing to do, and why.

Although, in his famous words, “Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to 6 inches of partly cloudy on the ground”. This after an unexpected snowfall.

That’s an amazing picture. The storm sure is packing lots and lots of rain. The fact that it’s so slow moving, last I looked, isn’t helping either.
