The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Wait a few days. Biden and Biden Adm will try to correct your anti-science wrongthink.
Yes, we evacuated close to home. Just far enough inland to avoid storm surge.
I wonder if he gets hazard pay?

Ryan was saying they expect it to track east to the Atlantic.
I’ve never been to Dans house, he bought it in the last 5 years or so. Don’t know how old it is. He’s lived all over Florida, even in a few double-wides but he boiught brick. :-)
I’ve not looked, did Tampa Bay see much surge today?
And from a couple of hours ago...

Three line breaks in the potable system have been reported. Two have been repaired, and the additional one will be repaired as soon storm conditions improve. Also, approximately 15% of sewage lift stations are without power so customers are asked to limit flushing.

Mesonet 1927 UTC (1537 EDT): 124 mph gust, at ASOS Station, KPGD Punta Gorda.
That’s on the inner edge of the eyewall. Safe to assume that all pertinent areas south and west of Punta Gorda saw 125 mph or higher.
I remember posting here, years ago, after an earthquake in Chile, and tsunami warnings in Hawaii or Japan, about how the water had receded in the SF bay area where I was living. It was amazing, kids and everyone walked among rocks and finding things usually underwater. I was excoriated on FR for even going there because everyone could die when the water rushed back. I now understand it was probably people experienced in hurricanes, not what we experienced.
The only reports I have seen are Ft. Myers Beach inundation. Haven’t heard updates about the mainland.
Water receded in Tampa Bay and Hillsborough River.
Best of luck to you, and prayers for you, your husband, and the ninety-year-old. Please let us know how you all are in updates.
I had a new Siamese kitten and at one point it got so bad we went into the downstairs bathroom to shelter. He decided to snip one off right there on the tile floor and I looked at him like WTF? W/ one swipe of his paw, the turd went under the clothes dryer where it remained until the dryer was replaced. He lived to be 21 and that is still one of my favorite memories of him.

The hardest thing about waiting this storm out is knowing we can’t respond right now to help you. Rest assured, we are ready. We will be coming.

Not sure what the elevation is. We are in SE cape inland from beach area.
The ocean will gradually rise until the eye gets half way inland north...then the surge will come around the backside rising rapidly
might want to get an axe in case you have to chop a hole to get to your roof
Very disturbing news.
My heart goes out to all Floridians today.
From your experience, is 9 mph still SLOW-moving?
Slower moving, worse damage to all? OR, is it a depends?
In landfall area, Ryan Hall is waiting to see what happens as eye passes the area...
