The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. At press briefing they said penalties for looting double and triple during a state of emergency.

We have a family member whose vacation house is in Bonita Springs, so we've been watching that area too. Much of it is low lying, including his 'red zone' house. I suspect he'll have a lot of water damage even if the winds don't whack the house, which they likely will. The only saving grace is that he got a light smacking a few years ago and most of the larger trees are gone from the immediate area of his house. I wouldn't want to be in Bonita Springs right now, but I'm sure it depends on exactly where (elevation) and the quality of construction. I've read that construction standards changed a lot after Andrew (1992). There are more stringent standards than in pre-Andrew construction.
Well that would certainly stop it in its tracks.

North of that, I think you’re seeing warm front advection and lift, out ahead of the cold front associated with the low, centered over upstate Mass.
It stopped it years ago but you can now destroy federal property or totally destroy a CVS and nothing will happen to you.
Lol... I got maybe 8 hours across those 3 days, then made up for it yesterday, 12 straight. I have to stick to coffee till the last two hours. The sugar in chocolate gives me two hours in sixth gear, then knocks me out. Sweet dreams!
We have three neighbors who have condos on Ft. Myers. Two of them are staying there now, and are not leaving. I’ve advised them to find higher ground. They have not.
Their “condos’, which are nothing more than fancy, poorly built apartments, are less that 1/2 mile from the beach. They are DEFINITELY in the range for storm surge.
I’m worried for them.

Up until today they thought they would get a wet, more of a glancing blow. Had they had another days notice the wife and mother in law would have skedaddled leaving the husband holding the fort. They were surprised by today’s events.
