“Kill or be killed.”
That’s what a spray-painted graffiti message reads on a metal wall a stone’s throw from the 1500 block of Government Street near downtown Baton Rouge. It’s a double testament — both to the scandalously dangerous character of that particular speck of earth along one of the city’s main thoroughfares and to the scandalously dangerous deficiency of the public schools in East Baton Rouge Parish.
The graffiti, which has been on that metal wall for close to 15 years without anyone bothering to paint over it, turned somewhat prophetic in the early-morning hours of Sept. 16. Because a stone’s throw away was the scene of one of the most stomach-turning, senseless murders in the history of a city hosting far, far too many of them.
Baton Rouge is a shooting gallery with one of the most hardened criminal classes of any in America — and a political class which has made its peace with that fact and only sluggishly bothers to fight off the contagion. Pandering to criminals gets more votes than stopping them in much of the city. You already know what results that brings.
Early in the morning of Friday, Sept. 16, following the 2 a.m. closing time of the bars in the Mid-City neighborhood along Government Street, 21-year-old Allison Rice, a senior at Louisiana State University majoring in marketing, was in her SUV making her way to the 1500 block. An eyewitness who attempted, and failed for two days, to contact the Baton Rouge Police Department describes what happened next:

The police scanner announced: “shots fired” every single night there. I can’t even imagine what it’s like today.

Uh, Dems ruined several cities after the 1966-1967 riots (parts of LA, all of Detroit....) followed by dozens more.
True it’s on them. But happened for some time now.
The spray painted sign actually says “Kill are be killed” but somehow my grammar editor corrected it when I went to post.
The author used it to make a point about the dismal state of the Baton Rouge school system.
I lived in NOLA and area (Old Metairie) for 12 years, leaving in 1991 to come up to Illinois because of my job. I had a love/hate relationship with the place. I would never live there again.
And it seems to be getting much worse.
Violent crime is falling in every demographic except among black Americans, where it is skyrocketing and driving the entire country’s crime rate up.
If you read on in the article, the suspects are described as two black men, a surprise to no one, I’m certain.
The police also describe it as a totally random shooting. They murdered her for no reason at all.
Another stolen life in Dead Baton Rouge. Girl, out too late, trapped by a train in a bad area. As soon as she saw the road was blocked, turn around!
The thing that tipped the balance in Baton Rouge was Hurricane Katrina. The scum left New Orleans and migrated to Baton Rouge and Houston. Most stayed where they landed. (I lived in BR from 1965-1993..then moved to Washington state for work reasons).
Such a senseless loss of life.
That is interesting. Never spent the night in BR being close enough to drive to. The north end and Scotlandville with the Southern U campus was the traditional dark town shit city. Did the Melanisians start drifting into mid town as the de facto segregation dwindled or what?
Show me a single big city that DemonCraps run, where crime didn’t warrant the middle class fleeing. It’s not just white flight it’s sanity flight.
