Biden Will No Longer Be Able to Tout Falling Gas Prices

With the midterms less than two months away, President Biden will no longer be able to tout falling gas prices.

For the first time in nearly 100 days, gas prices rose, up to $3.681 on Wednesday from $3.674.

After sinking every day for more than three months, US gas prices edged higher – by a penny – to $3.68 a gallon, on average Wednesday, according to AAA.

That ends 98 consecutive days of falling pump prices, the second-longest such streak on record going back to 2005.

The last time the national average price for gasoline rose was June 14, when it hit a record of $5.02. Prices fell every day since then and Thursday would have marked the 100th straight day of declines. (CNN)

“All streaks have to end at some point, and the national average for a gallon of gas has fallen $1.34 since its peak in mid-June,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement this week. “But there are big factors tugging on global oil prices—war, COVID, economic recession, and hurricane season. All this uncertainty could push oil prices higher, likely resulting in slightly higher pump prices.”

Biden and Democrats had been taking victory laps on falling gas prices, which saw national averages peak to over $5 per gallon earlier this summer.

They should never have touted them. We would love us some $3.68 gas about now. Cheapest in Reno is currently $4.93. Never got below $4.29 or so recently. Two years ago? Yeah, affordable. Now we have to plan trips to do as much in one outing as we can. Pleasure riding? Nope. ⛽🤬

Is the drug addict becoming inured to his fixes from the strategic oil reserve after a few months? Better up the doses.

I paid $3.099 Sunday. That was 7 cents lower than any gas this year. $4.69 was my high.

Biden’s two solutions:

YELL REALLY LOUD at everyone telling them gas prices aren’t bad.

Or

Start an investigation into the criminality of noticing that gas prices are high.

$2.88 in far East Tennessee...guess that is coming to an end. Better top off the tank...nuclear war will certainly drive prices up. :-)

Pretty sure the SPR releases ain’t having much effect on anything. Except what’s in the storage facility.

Wait, wait, wait. Biden isn’t responsible for any climbing gas prices. He’s only responsible for the reduction of the gas prices.

He only does the good stuff. The bad stuff isn’t on him.

The media told me so.

The releases are simply flooding the supply (while emptying any strategic reserve...should be called Democrat Election Reserve).

The reduction in fuel prices has been demand. Demand for gas this summer at one point (the highest price point) was lower than during the lockdowns of 2020.

That’s why it fell. We couldn’t afford to drive as much. But, that’s their goal anyway.

Hey, I'd settle for anything under $5 per gallon. Last time I looked, our prices had gone back UP about 20 cents a gallon to over $5.50 for regular, north of $6 for premium. Could be those wascally Wepublican oil company profits responsible, but I'm guessing it's our own one-party state legislature lining their pockets with new taxes to blame for this one.

Luckily for us, I walk to work, so there is no gas money wasted on my commute. My wife works about 10 miles away, so she gets the car. With no "unnecessary" driving, I get about 2 weeks on a tank of gas, so I guess we're not as badly affected financially. Still...

I’ve have paid under $3 here in GA recently. Although we also temporarily eliminated our state tax on gas.

As of 9/15 it looks like there are about 450 million barrels in storage. Good thing there’s no REAL emergency eh?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_Strategic_Petroleum_Reserve.webp

That does not equate to gasoline.
