Russia Seeks to Annex Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson into Russia
Net news ledger ^ | 20th September 2022

A move in occupied territories in Ukraine to hold ‘votes’ on joining Russia could be a sign of Vladimir Putin realizing that he has to do radical things to save face and be able to declare victory in what is increasingly seen as a failed war.

Votes being held in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson may indicate a move to annex these Ukraine territories into Russia.

These moves are generating speculation on potential escalation of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Sources tell NetNewsLedger that Russian President Putin is planning a major escalation including conscription. Over past weeks the Russians have conscripted convicts into the armed forces.

These moves come after a major successful advance by Ukraine troops.

What is possible however is that if Putin were to annex Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson into Russia, he would consider any attacks on those territories to be attacks on Russia and could led to a major escalation of the war.

"We should use the same logic and cede southern California to Mexico."

Have you actually seen the map of Reconquista/Aztlan?

One of the a priori condition precedent for Putin's prior invasion of Crimea and the Ukrainian War of 2022 is to continue the Soviet tradition of rewarding Russia's kleptocracy -- particularly those 'Old Communist' families -- who over many decades of the USSR and right until the present day, were 'awarded', along with staffers and hangers-on, prime Crimean and east Ukrainian Communist outposts -- accompanied by their beautiful dachas: Odessa, Yalta, Mriya.

Gorbachev's Zarya dacha in Foros -- a billion-ruble 'investment' -- the more recent example.

This Soviet policy was and is specifically meant to displace the local Ukrainian populace.

Putin's illegal invasion of the Ukraine, therefore, is the exact equivalent of Mexico's Labrador declaring war on the US in order to preserve the Mexican mojado illegal US invasion of Texas and California and the American Southwest!

"¡Aztlán es nuestro! ¡Los Estadounidenses son Nazis!" ("Aztlan is ours! Americans are Nazis!")

This Mexican policy was and is specifically meant to displace the local American populace.

Zaporizhia? They’re getting a nuclear power plant to play chess or Pac Man with? But not Chernobyl, of course.

Nearly 70% of Luhansk are ethnic Russians. Nato took territory away from Serbia due to the Albanians being a majority. Good for the goose .

Anyone who thought otherwise is crazy.

You don’t invest the kind of manpower and equipment into a region, like Putin did, For “protecting Russian speakers.”

Once they are annexed, Russia territory may be defended by a declaration of war - and then Putin sends in the actual Russian Army, rather than the conscripted forces in the Special Operation. Russia was constrainted by the Russian Special Operation that did not permit actual regualr Military units from the fight. This annexation will be denied by the Ukraine, and then there will what Putin will cal WAR.

This where Hillary’s Red Reset Button comes into play. Everything changes when sovereign territories of Russia are attacked;)

It would be cool. Every Texan in the US Military would immediately be reassigned to the Texas National Military and US National Forces by agreement. Texas run Navy ships/installations; army units - especially artillery and armor units. Air Force Units. Space Command. I wonder if they would have Marins or integrate those Texan Marines into other branchs of the military - maybe MSG, or Marine Security Guards for building and installations as they now proved for the Foreign Serivce/Dept of State overseas,.

if we forced them to live under conditions similar to what Russian-speakers had to live under in Ukraine,

It must be really tough to have running water, toilets, electricity, social welfare programs, pensions, free education and health care, good jobs, and all the other things available to Russian speakers in Ukraine.

I am sure the Russian speaking residents of Mariupol were thrilled to have their city destroyed.

then Putin sends in the actual Russian Army...

Putin already sent in "the actual Russian Army" including some of his best BTGs. They got ripped apart already.

No, no, no. You’ve got it all wrong.

Think of it this way.

Donbas = Sudetenland

Kherson = Alsace

Now who’s the Nazi? /s

In the 1991 referendum on Ukrainian independence, 83.9% of voters in Donetsk Oblast and 83.6% in Luhansk Oblast supported independence from the Soviet Union.

how does this gel with the Russian language speaking map?

Because "Russian speaking" is not the same as "Ethnic Russian not ethnic Ukrainian" nor the same as "wanting to be under Moscow" --> there are lots of Russian speakers in Ukraine -- like Zelensky, a Russian speaker and lot of people with both parents from Russia who still do not want to be ruled from Moscow and prefer being Ukrainian

So your comic is, well, comically false

East of the Rhine, boundaries have been fluid for centuries.

That's true for west of the Rhine as well -- look at the differences in the borders of France

in 1914

France in 1814

France in 1700

in 1500

and you get the picture.

It's the same really of every country prior to 1950 - even the USA, even the UK

The key thing is - it happened in the past.

Today Alsace-Lorraine aren’t disputed between France and Germany, neither is South-Tyrol disputed between Austria and Italy.

Germans can live and work in Pomerania, they can buy homes and pretty much settle there.

Nation-states have existed since the French revolution and forced Francification. Prior to that, there was no irony in Copernicus being an ethnic German but holding allegiance to the Polish King (who was a Swede)

The USA is simply saying - “you can’t go around murdering people to change your border” - and they are right, we have seen where that ends.

Look at Israel - the Jews freely allow Arab Christians and Muslims to not only live & work but also to be citizens and even represented in the Israeli parliament..

Look at the USA - there are legal immigrants from all over the world. But that is a political will issue — this is not the same as Russia invading Ukraine

how can it be?

1. The Russian army is a logistical mess - corruption has meant that equipment for trucks etc. are 20+ years old and not maintained

2. due to corruption, it has no effective leadership at the NCO or officer level

3. no morale no raison d’etre

bobl :Here in Texas, they’re welcome to speak Spanish, but if we forced them to live under conditions similar to what Russian-speakers had to live under in Ukraine, then I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to join Mexico

And Zelensky is a Russian speaker - Russian speakers have not been persecuted in Ukraine

Russian does not have any special status in Ukraine. Just another language. You can speak it freely.

Jumper : "then Putin sends in the actual Russian Army, rather than the conscripted forces in the Special Operation"

dude - he couldn't send Conscripts to Ukraine as per the russian constitution

Putin sent in the elite, professional Russian troops to Ukraine, like the VDV paratroopers who were to capture Kyiv --> The Russian professional soldiers FAILED and they died -- if Putin declares war he sends in conscripts who are untrained -- cannonfodder against the experienced Ukrainian military

Those with operational brains knew it was a lie when he stated it.

The “nazi” problem in Ukraine is so bad they elected a JEWISH president.

RuSSia is, always was, and always will be, a ghastly country.
