Moscow and Beijing will soon sign a deal on delivery of "50 billion cubic metres of gas" per year via Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, which will run partly via Mongolia, says Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

A Russian pipeline to China will replace the Nord Stream 2 gas link to Europe, abandoned amid the Ukraine conflict, Moscow's Energy Minister Alexander Novak has said.

Asked in an interview with Russian television channel Rossiya-1 on Thursday if Russia would replace the European Nord Stream 2 with the Asian Power of Siberia 2, Novak said: "Yes."

Russia began as an Asiatic nation, and so it will expire.

Do you realize that I brought figures for exple and you are still wrong?...Also it needs to be taken into account that more that 10% is coming to China and the discount is nowhere near 50%.

China has secured Russian gas at a 50% discount to the end of the year. Losing the European market and only selling China gas at a 50% discount is a disaster.

In 2021, Russia sold around 33 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Asia, compared to a European market that typically imports 160 to 200 bcm from Russia.

China has secured Russian gas at a 50% discount until the end of this year

China has inked a deal for Russian natural gas at half price through the end of this year.

Just today Germany announced they are sending 50 armored vehicles to Ukraine. At this point NATO is managing Putin and his war on Ukraine with calibrated military aid to Ukraine. Russia has lost the shooting war and can only “win” diplomatically.

No doubt the Chicoms will drive a much harder bargain and be less susceptible to Russian corruption than the EU. It’s truly a lose-lose situation here for Russia thanks to Putin’s blunders.

Will not be ready until 2027 or 2028. I do not think it will happen.

Russia has shown themselves willing to use the gas for political purposes.

Yeah, they're a little slow, but they do learn by observation.

—”...pushing 8,000 miles. What could go wrong?”

The gas pressure needs to be boosted about every hundred miles~.

Previously the Russians used Siemens turbine compressors made in Berlin Germany.

Do you think the Germans will sell them the equipment?

None are made in Russia.

The Chinese would be glad to copy the Siemens turbine compressors and do the work for a reasonable cost.
The Chinese have forever had jet turbine issues and would like to expand their working knowledge.

What do you choose?

Maybe they could get Brandon to have GE crank some out?

That’s all they’ve got to sell. They don’t actually make or do anything anyone else wants. Still won’t make them a superpower nor will it make their military competent.

Reeks of pathetic desperation.

See post #14. The gas situation was pushed by the American lobby since Hillary was SoS. There was neither intention nor capability to replace Russian supply. The situation is designed to bring down Europe as the US competitor.

The amount of hopium you are smoking is mind-boggling.
Russia came to Ukraine with a small force of 200k, half of them local militia. They destroyed half of the Europe’s largest army, including almost all of the Ukrainian armor which was numbered in thousands, whereas they have to rely on scarce antiquated Polish T-72s and M113s. What is 50 armored vehicles relative to this scale?

“Siberia has gas, largely UNexplored.”

And China has claimed for many, many years that Siberia is actually part of China. China may find it more affordable just to take Siberia, or at least its energy.

Construction is due to start in 2024.”

Incredible, just over a year!!! It would take the capitalists at least 5 years just to get the EIS approved, and that’s assuming no lawsuits.

You have it all wrong. The turbines aren’tade in Berlin but in Canada by a RR facility purchased by Siemens. That explain why they aren’t working anymore.
Russia has its own turbines. For this exact project Siemens was used because it is a joint project and the Germans insisted to have its company involved.
