Our pets are part of the climate problem. These tips can help you minimize their carbon pawprints
CNN ^ | September 15, 2022 | By Kimberly Richardson

CNN - Our four-legged friends don’t drive gas-guzzling SUVs or use energy-sucking appliances, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a climate impact. In fact, researchers have showed that pets play a significant role in the climate crisis.

But what do Barkley and Whiskers have to do with our warming planet? It’s the products we buy for them that need a closer look.

Their meat-heavy diet is the biggest contributor to their carbon pawprints, which requires an abundance of energy, land and water to produce. And the production of pet food emits huge amounts of planet-warming gases.

According to a 2017 study, feeding dogs and cats creates the equivalent of around 64 million tons of carbon dioxide in the US each year. That’s roughly the same impact as 13.6 million cars on the road. And, if our furry friends formed a separate country, it would rank 5th in global meat consumption behind China, the US, Brazil and Russia, according to UCLA professor and author of that study Gregory Okin.

But don’t panic. Bidding farewell to your best friends is not the answer.

These people are insane.

PS - what kind of political message is this?

It’s not enough that they double your utility bill, double your fuel bill, and double what a new car will cost you (electric).

Now they are coming for your dog, cat, and parakeet to save the “climate”.

Bidding farewell to CNN is the answer.

Sorry, Bowser, you’re not getting steak. Heck, I don’t remember when we had steak.

The cats eat nature grown bugs, lizards, snakes and mice.

One of my college roomates had a cat named BUGSY. He PREFERRED bugs over cat food or people food. That cat was priceless and super healthy. He was fast and could jump really high.

A) That’s hundreds of millions of cuddly lives being supported with those exhalations.

B) Carbon dioxide is a fundamental, good, and necessary life-giving substance that has been much higher in the past and that would foster more plant growth if it were higher again.

I live across the road from a bunch of cattle. I’m surprised the lethal cow flatulence hasn’t killed everyone on my road already. As you can see, I’m in such a dire circumstance that my dog is the least of my worries.

Ape's fart. As do alligators. Dingos fart as do Wombats.

I've heard cows fart....never heard my dogs fart.

Humans fart I have heard plenty of them...

You ever hear a mouse fart.

Me neither.

I have a 11 week old Cane Corso. He eats tons and I swear he’s a pound heavier every other day or so. His daddy was a measly 158lbs. Take that climate whackos. I dare you to argue with my pup. He’s already learned the commands, “sic Rat”, and “sic Democrat”.
