A Rasmussen survey of 1,000 adults shows only 28 percent believe electric vehicles are “practical for most drivers.” Meanwhile, a clear majority of 54 percent say they are not. Eighteen percent are unsure.
When asked to look a decade into the future, which will be just a few years before California outlaws gas-powered vehicles, a whopping 69 percent say it is “very” (37 percent) or “somewhat” (32 percent) likely that most cars will run primarily on gasoline. Only 23 percent disagree.

Damn right. You’re going to find LOTS deficient with this garbage pushed by the religion of The Environment(TM).
Instead of constantly being supported by government, and by corporate sheep anxious to virtue-signal with their FREE charging, etc, let the free market - and natural research and testing and tinkering - come up with good product and see if people as a whole think it’s worthwhile.
Being forced on us, like 1.6L toilets and Curly-fry lightbulbs, is NOT telling us the demand.

If it’s above E, it’s ready to go. And if we need to get more gas, it happens within 5 minutes at the pump.
I don’t need to remember to yank anything out of the car and pull ithat out of the way, either.
Lots of details add up. In fact those things people didn’t think about are usually the deal-breakers. Buyer’s remorse when you realize XYZ.

I responded: If it was the functional equivalent of an ICE vehicle there would be a market. That he says there isn’t a market tells me there is a pretty huge tradeoff/cost, just like every other electric vehicle.

The "it" I referred to was the mythical 600 mile range EV. Why doesn't Tesla have a 600 mile range? Musk said there was no market. You repeated him. I just expanded on your statement.

Right now they can’t. They are maxed out.
The point is that the anti-EV dudes laugh at a 350 mile range while most people really are satisfied with a 350 mile range.

Ridiculous conclusion. Tesla would produce more if they could. They are back ordered and the factories are maxed out.
A true 350 range is fine. One where you can drive 325 miles, refuel in 5 minutes and drive another 325, and keep doing it until your butt gives out or it’s time to go to sleep. Not a fake 350 mile range where you can only drive 200 actual miles (unless you want to trash your $20k batteries) and maybe spend 30 minutes charging if you are lucky.

Truth is, most people don’t need or want to drive 750 miles in a day. If they did, Musk would be providing longer range cars.
Why buy something you don’t need.
Well, water has always been the King of transportation.
I like rail ‘cuz I don’t have to share the road with it. Also I like traveling by rail. Planes are faster, but they are less comfortable, and boring. I have always that that air passengers should be given a sedative and a painkiller for flights over 4 hours.
I have a friend who happens to be a train fanatic. His vacations are usually spent going to different parts of the country to ride trains. He will drive cross country to ride one he hasn’t ridden before.
I’ve been on a couple with him, it was very interesting and fun.
I’ve made one flight, it was in a privately owned plane, from Lynchburg, Virginia to KC, Missouri. Even though I could smoke and have a beer I realized flying just wasn’t for me. I could never stand a commercial flight, especially now with all the rules and regulations.
I used to like flying. The seats were comfortable with decent leg room.
Now they’re uncomfortable and tight. Also, the planes see, well, flimsier. Landings are more like controlled crashes. And don’t get me started on the airport “experience.” I just don’t enjoy it any more.
I would take a plane if I wanted to visit New Mexico, but if I can drive there in a day, or even two, I will do so.
